"Bridgerton" is a Netflix show created by Shonda Rhimes based on the bestselling romance novels by Julia Quinn. Set during Regency-era England, the TV series follows the stories of the Bridgerton family, primarily focusing on the lives and love stories of the eight children: Anthony (Jonathan Bailey), Benedict (Luke Thompson), Colin (Luke Newton), Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor), Eloise (Claudia Jessa), Francesca (Ruby Stokes in Seasons 1 and 2; Francesca Hunt in Season 3), Gregory (Will Tilston) and Hyacinth (Florence Hunt). Julie Andrews also voices the series' mysterious narrator, Lady Whistledown, who writes about the various comings and goings of the ton, often inciting drama of her own. The first season, which debuted in 2020, focused on the love story between Daphne and Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page). When released, the season garnered 625.49 million hours viewed on its first 28 days on Netflix and catapulted to the top of Netflix’s English-language TV series chart. "Bridgerton" Season 2 premiered in March 2022, focusing on the love story between Anthony and Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley); it became the most popular English-language TV series of all time, knocking the show’s first season from the No. 1 spot. "Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story," a six-episode limited series prequel about Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel), debuted in May 2023 to rave reviews, landing on the No. 1 spot on Netflix’s Top 10 chart. “Bridgerton” was renewed for Seasons 3 and 4 in 2021; the third season, which filmed in 2022, will focus on the love story between Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan).
