President

Broadcast TV has been pleading for relevancy over the past decade — and this fall, CBS Studios’ “Matlock” was on the case. As president of CBS Studios since 2004, Stapf has seen the business (not to mention his own company) completely change. But at least one thing hasn’t: The need for hit programming. Under Stapf’s stewardship, he’s grown popular franchises like “Star Trek” (which has launched multiple new editions in recent years, with more on the way) and “NCIS,” which has now hit more than 1,000 episodes across multiple series. CBS Studios also found success this year in “Elsbeth,” the latest edition in “The Good Wife” / “The Good Fight” universe. And Stapf’s team has expanded its international domain with the global hit comedy “Colin from Accounts.” Stapf expanded his oversight in 2024 as Paramount TV Studios closed, shifting its assets to CBS Studios, as well. The verdict? With Skydance about to take over Paramount Global, Stapf continues to run one of the merged company’s brightest assets.
