Apply to UMBC as an Undergraduate Student
First-Year Students
You have or will be graduating from high-school but have yet to enroll in any college or university since receiving your degree.
Transfer Students
You’ve completed college level coursework at an institution of higher learning after receiving a high school diploma or passing the GED. You're planning to study at UMBC's home campus or UMBC at the Universities at Shady Grove.
International Students
You will need a non-immigrant visa to study and live in the United States as a First-Year or Transfer student.
Returning Students
You completed coursework at UMBC as a degree-seeking undergraduate but your studies at UMBC were interrupted for two or more regular semesters.
Non-Degree or Visiting Students
You want to take a class or classes for personal growth or take a course and transfer the credits to your home institution.
Lifelong Learners
You are 60 years or older and a retired Maryland resident interested in enrolling in undergraduate classes.
Apply to UMBC as a Graduate School Student
Applying to UMBC’s graduate programs is easy, safe, and secure. You can apply online as a degree seeking, non-degree seeking, or certificate student. Our online applications are managed by our trusted partner, CollegeNET. When you Apply Online, you can create an account, submit your application information and pay the $50 application fee by credit card over a secure internet connection.

Please note that application decisions can take 6-8 weeks after the program’s deadline, and depend on how many applications a department receives.
You will receive an email once the department processes your decision letter. You will be able to see your decision letter by logging in to the application website. Your decision letter will be where the application checklist was.
