Everyone and their mothers, grandmothers, great aunts twice removed, and neighbor's mothers are talking about Erika Kirk's recent CBS News town hall, but not for the reasons you think.

During the hour-long interview, Kirk talked about many things, like God, her late husband's new book, and how iPads are to blame for violence.

She was also asked about Candace Owens, a right-wing podcaster who has recently gone viral for peddling conspiracy theories about Charlie Kirk's assassination.

In the past, Owens, who was previously the communications director of Charlie’s right-wing nonprofit, Turning Point USA, has described her relationship with Charlie as close. In a recent podcast episode, she said, "We were brother and sister. We were fortified...I knew him. I knew Charlie. The real Charlie. And Charlie knew the real Candace."

As of late, numerous episodes of Owens’s podcast have been devoted to discussing Kirk’s death. Namely, her theory that Kirk's assassination was a set-up staged by Israel and the US.

Bari Weiss, the new editor-in-chief of CBS News, asked Erika Kirk about Owens’s theory during the town hall.

"The podcaster Candace Owens... At one time, a friend of Charlie's, at one time an employee of Turning Point, she has been one of the main peddlers of these conspiracies, and she's making a huge amount of money on it. She is building her business off of these lies. What do you want to say to her and the other people that are putting these lies out into the world right now?" Weiss asked.

People could not stop talking about that moment, not because of what Kirk said, but how she said it. "the way her smile faded when she heard that name," one comment reads.

Since the town hall, Owens has responded to Kirk's one-word request: "Erika would like me to stop lying, and I would like to honor that, okay. I can only honor that if Erika is more explicit in terms of what I have lied about."

Presumably, they've taken their beef offline for the time being. According to Kirk's tweet, the two will have a "private, in-person discussion."
