Urban street greenery as a prevention against illegal dumping of household garbage—A case in Suwon, South Korea
Abstract
Urban street greenery appears to function as a preventive method against illegal dumping of household garbage. Street greenery's horizontal coverage, distance from vehicular or pedestrian traffic, and minimum height of vegetation also influence its effectiveness. These elements might affect the effectiveness by reducing the actual space available for dumping garbage. Findings help provide both basis and insight for planning and design of greenery intended to prevent illegal dumping.
