- "If the airport doesn't open, it will be bad for all the engines. Both steam engines and diesel engines need passengers and freight to be useful."
- ― Thomas to the other engines
Calling All Engines! is the first hour-length Thomas & Friends special, and the first to be primarily released on VHS and DVD, in honour of the 60th Anniversary of The Railway Series in 2005.
Plot
Summertime has come to the Island of Sodor, and the engines are looking forward to taking holidaymakers (vacationers in the US version) around the island. One morning, the Fat Controller informs the engines that a new airport is to be built on Sodor to bring more holidaymakers to the island than ever, much to their excitement. Thomas and Percy head to the site of the new airport to help with its construction, only to discover that 'Arry and Bert, who immediately begin bullying and complaining about them, are on the same job.
That afternoon, Thomas arrives at the Timber Yard and runs into 'Arry and Bert again, who boast that they have an "important job". Annoyed by this, Thomas cheekily biffs Bert's flatbed out of the way just before the yard's crane drops the timber onto it, delaying their delivery. Later, whilst Thomas and Percy are shunting trucks at Brendam Docks, Diesel arrives and confronts Thomas about the trouble that he has caused for 'Arry and Bert before telling him not to do the same thing to him, as he also has an "important job". This gives Thomas another mischievous idea; he gives Diesel trucks of bananas instead of bricks or timber.
Later, Thomas and Percy head to the Smelter's Yard to collect some steel girders. However, upon arrival, they see Diesel 10, who had been brought back following his previous tenure on the island, loading scrap into trucks. Frightened, the two tank engines leave and decide to come back once Diesel 10 has left. On their way home that evening, Thomas and Percy are concerned to see that the Sodor Suspension Bridge is not painted and the airport is only half-finished. Worse still, they discover that Tidmouth Sheds has been demolished. It turns out that Diesel, 'Arry and Bert's "important job" was to deliver supplies and building materials for the construction of the new one, but due to Thomas' tricks, the renovation is temporarily postponed. As a result, the engines are forced to temporarily sleep elsewhere. James has to stay at the Coaling Plant, which would make him very dirty. Edward has to stay at the Ffarquhar Quarry with Diesel to the latter's annoyance. Henry and Percy have to stay at the Smelter's Yard, making the former very nervous as someone might mistake him for scrap. Gordon has to sleep under a makeshift tent. Toby was comfortable in his own shed, and though it was too small for anyone else, he would've shared if it wasn't. Thomas has to stay at Knapford Sheds with Emily, who is unhappy about having to share her shed as she is used to sleeping alone.
That night, just as Thomas thinks the sheds will be finished the next day, a fierce storm sweeps across Sodor and causes havoc. It blows the roof of Gordon's tent away and causes the Suspension Bridge to collapse. The other engines make it through the storm unscathed, but they were worried about the island. The next morning, Thomas awakens and sees all of the damage done by the storm around the island. When he returns, the Fat Controller tells the engines that the storm damage must be cleared up before the work on the airport and the new sheds can continue. Edward and Henry deliver bricks and wood to the airport, Harvey clears fallen trees from the line and Thomas brings workmen to the Suspension Bridge. However, the steam and diesel engines are still cross at and refuse to talk to each other due to the previous day's events. Later, Thomas sees Diesel 10 helping to clear debris from the track and nervously puffs away. That night, Thomas tells Emily about Diesel 10 and his day's work, but Emily is not interested and crossly tells him to go to sleep. However, when Thomas falls asleep, he whistles in his sleep, to Emily's dismay.
The next morning, the Fat Controller sends Thomas to collect an iron beam for the Suspension Bridge from Brendam Docks. He also warns him that it is heavy and he might need help. Diesel taunts Thomas, saying that diesels do not need help, but Thomas, still cross, is confident that he can do it by himself. Once he arrives at Brendam Docks, though, Thomas becomes worried due to how long and heavy the beam is, but he bravely manages to get the heavy load moving. Upon arriving at the Suspension Bridge, he feels tired and wants to rest, but the beam still needs to be placed. Diesel wants to try, but the foreman entrusts Thomas to do it, as he has already proven his strength. Thomas has a hard time keeping the beam steady, but he finally manages to carefully lower it into place, which the workmen praise him for. This makes Thomas so proud that he gloats that steam engines are better than diesels, much to Diesel's fury. Thomas then heads to the Sodor Paint Factory to collect some paint for the Suspension Bridge. The paint cans have already been loaded onto a flatbed. However, Diesel is also in the yard and, while Thomas isn't looking, shunts the flatbed so hard that the paint cans are catapulted off it, their contents spilling all over Thomas, which proves to be the final straw for the, now vengeful, tank engine. In retaliation, Thomas biffs 'Arry into a pile of gravel, who, in turn, bumps James under the coal hopper. The matter escalates until several engines are fighting; Gordon bangs Bert into a work shed, Diesel shoves Toby onto the coal tipper, Emily bumps Diesel into an old shed, Bert biffs Henry under a leaking oil pipe and the latter pushes Diesel off the track and into a ditch. This leaves all of the participants in need of washdowns, with no work having been done.
That evening, the Fat Controller is cross with the delays and tells the engines that if they don't learn how to get along with each other and work together, no holidaymakers will come to Sodor this year. This leaves the engines in a state of despair, and definitely with a lot to think about. Later that night, several of them dream about what could happen to them if no holidaymakers come to Sodor and they are no longer useful; James dreams about being turned into a coconut shy at a fair, Gordon dreams about being turned into a playground, Edward dreams about being turned into a scarecrow, and Percy dreams about being turned into a roller coaster. On the other hand, Thomas dreams about how to make things better. In his dream, he sees Lady, a very special steam engine, and Rusty, a diesel, working together. Lady explains to Thomas about teamwork, which inspires him to go off and find Mavis as soon as he wakes up the next morning, as he knows that Mavis is one of the kinder and friendlier diesels and will be happy to help him with his plan.
Thomas finds Mavis at the washdown and tells her that he wants to convince the steam and diesel engines to work together to get the airport open and save the railway. Mavis explains that they must talk to each other first, so Thomas suggests having a big meeting with all the steam and diesel engines at the coaling plant the next day. As Thomas and Mavis tell the other engines about the meeting, the former comes across Diesel 10 and wants to tell him about it, but then gets scared and quickly runs away, thinking that Diesel 10 will probably never work with the steam engines anyway. That evening, Thomas is too tired to return to Knapford Sheds, so he pulls into a siding to sleep in for the night. Meanwhile, Emily is initially happy to have her shed to herself again but soon begins to miss Thomas.
The next morning, Henry, Gordon, James, Percy, Toby, Diesel, Daisy, Mavis, 'Arry and Bert arrive at the coaling plant to start the meeting, much to the surprise of the plant manager, who telephones the Fat Controller. As Thomas races to the coaling plant, the engines begin to argue about whether the steam or diesel engines are to blame for the recent trouble. Before things can get any worse, Thomas arrives and whistles for everyone to be silent before explaining that they all need to work together to get the airport open, as they all need passengers and freight to be useful, and getting them to realize their behavior towards each other recently. At last, knowing that he is right, the steam and diesel engines decide to put their differences aside. Just then, Harold arrives with the Fat Controller, who questions why they are all there, to which Thomas explains that they have finally agreed to work together to finish the airport, which the Fat Controller is pleased to hear. Percy and Mavis deliver the paint to the Suspension Bridge, Toby and Daisy bring workmen to the airport and 'Arry and Bert help Gordon up his hill so that he can bring carpenters to work on rebuilding Tidmouth Sheds.
Soon, the airport is complete and the first aeroplane is sent on its way to Sodor. However, as Thomas is finishing one last job of shunting a long line of trucks into a siding, they derail due to some buckled rails and crash into the water tower, which collapses to the ground and cracks the runway concrete with the derailed trucks scattered all over the tracks. The airport manager then inspects the damage and determines that unless it can be cleared away, the aeroplane would have to go back, much to the anger of the diesels, as well as Percy and Emily. The workmen quickly repave the runway and find that they need George to finish the job, but George is too far away and slow to come on his own, and no one can get past the wrecked trucks to get him. The airport manager calls for Harvey to clear the tracks, but with Harvey on the other side of Sodor, he is also unable to make it on time. However, Thomas gets an idea and rushes off to find Diesel 10, who is loading tree branches into some trucks, and asks him to help them. At first, Diesel 10 refuses, but when Thomas tells him that he will be considered the most useful engine if he were to help, he agrees and follows Thomas to the airport. Percy, Emily, Diesel, Mavis, 'Arry and Bert are surprised to see that Thomas has brought Diesel 10 and the two are working together. Seeing Diesel 10 working alongside Thomas convinces Diesel, 'Arry and Bert to finally respect the steam engines. With the aid of the other engines, the mess is cleared up and Thomas races off and collects George to repair the runway.
With the runway repaired and smooth again, the first aeroplane safely lands. The engines learn that teamwork runs a railway, not opposition, despite differences. That evening, Thomas, Edward, Henry, Gordon, James, Percy and Emily are happy to see Tidmouth Sheds rebuilt, especially Emily when she finds out that an extra berth has been added to the sheds for her to stay there from now on, having grown to love sharing her shed since Thomas' temporary stay. And so, that evening in the newly-rebuilt Tidmouth Sheds, the friends all talked about the events that have happened before, and they all agree that, out of all the many places on Sodor, Tidmouth Sheds is the best one of all.

Trivia
- The filedates of the US DVD show that it was finished on July 11, 2005.
- Alongside being made to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the franchise, the special was also made in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the TV series, as the production year at the time was 2004 and features most of the engines that have appeared in the series so far. Initially, it was met with some trepidation from the crew, who were unsure that extending Thomas beyond the comfort regions of self-contained short stories would work.
- This special marked the first of several things:
- The first full-length, one hour special released directly on home media.
- The first special narrated by Jon Kabira in Japan as well as the first produced with the involvement of 81 Produce.
- The first special filmed interlaced on Digibeta technology.
- The first appearances of Edward, Bill, Ben, Emily, Harvey, Diesel, Daisy, Mavis, 'Arry, Bert, Salty, Rusty, George, the Fat Controller, Stephen Hatt, Bridget Hatt, Farmer McColl, Jem Cole, the Sodor Brass Band, the Storyteller and the Refreshment Lady in a special.
- The first special in which Bertie does not appear since his introduction.
- The first special in where Toby appears, but does not speak since his introduction.
- The first special to adapt the standard storytelling style of narration seen in the television series, as Thomas and the Magic Railroad was primarily dialogue and script acting.
- Daisy's first appearance since the fourth series episode, Bulls Eyes.
- Bill and Ben's first appearances since the seventh series episode, Bill, Ben and Fergus, not counting a deleted scene from the eighth series episode, Thomas to the Rescue, from which their music video cameo comes from.
- Derek's first appearance since his debut, although he only appears in a music video.
- Rusty's first appearance since the seventh series episode, Trusty Rusty and the first appearance of his small scale model since the fifth series episode, Snow. This also makes it the first special to feature a narrow gauge engine.
- Lady and Diesel 10's first appearances since their debuts in Thomas and the Magic Railroad.
- The first appearance of Henry's toothed-happy face since the sixth series episode, Percy's Chocolate Crunch.
- The first special to air on Milkshake! in the UK.
- The first time that Tidmouth Sheds is destroyed; the second time would be the twenty-first series episode, The Fastest Red Engine on Sodor.
- The first UK DVD released by 2Entertain. Additionally, it is also the only UK VHS released by 2Entertain as well, though the tape label features the VCI logo instead, despite the fact the actual tape contains the 2Entertain logo.
- The first movie or special released on DVD in Brazil, with Thomas and the Magic Railroad being released later on that same year (2009).
- The first Thomas and Friends production to acknowledge the Steam Team.
- The first full-length special to be directed by Steve Asquith.
- The first special not dubbed in Korean.
- The first DVD to use the 'Out Now to buy on DVD' preview. Although the VHS Tape is the only one to use it on there as there were no more tapes released so DVDs until then used the preview.
- This special also marked many one-time things:
- The only special where the narrator does not read the title and Toby does not speak until The Great Race.
- The only DVD special in Australia to feature its own interactive menu instead of copying the UK and Irish release.
- The only appearances of Derek and Caroline in a special.
- The only US/Canadian DVD until Race for the Sodor Cup not to have the language selection menu.
- The only US and Canadian DVD to feature the HiT Extras at the end of the program.
- The only special written by Paul Larson, though fifteen years later he wrote two major productions such as the double-length special episodes of the Marvellous Machinery miniseries, A New Arrival and World of Tomorrow for the twenty-fourth series along with Laura Beaumont.
- The only special that features stock footage from Learning Segments incorporated into the narrative and the storyline.
- The only special to have a different logo design for the UK and US respectively.
- The only special until The Adventure Begins to celebrate the franchise's anniversary.
- Lady, Daisy and Derek's only appearances in the HiT Entertainment model era, as well as Lady and Derek's only other appearances overall.
- The only time Diesel 10 is voiced by Kiyoyuki Yanada in the Japanese dub and as part as the new voice cast as well as the voice cast overall, before his death in November 2022, seventeen years later.
- It also marks the only time Lady is voiced by Miyu Matsuki in the Japanese dub and as part of the new voice cast as well as the voice cast overall, before her death in 2015, ten years later.
- Diesel, Diesel 10 and Mavis' only speaking roles in the HiT Entertainment model era special.
- Daisy's only appearance in the model series special.
- Diesel's only speaking role in a special until Misty Island Rescue.
- Mavis' only speaking role in a special until Hero of the Rails.
- Apart from laughing and cheering in Day of the Diesels, this is 'Arry and Bert's only speaking roles in a special.
- The only time where Lady appears without Burnett Stone.
- The only special to not introduce any new characters until The Mystery of Lookout Mountain.
- The only special not to have a theatrical release of any kind.
- This special marked the last of a few things:
- Daisy's last appearance until Sodor's Legend of the Lost Treasure and her last appearance in the model series.
- Diesel 10's last appearance until The Great Discovery and his last speaking role until Misty Island Rescue, as well as being his last speaking role in the model series.
- Lady and Derek's last appearances, although Derek was originally going to appear in the sixteenth series episode, Bust My Buffers! but was dropped due to the name "Paxman" in the script being mistaken for Paxton, if that would happened, it would be his last appearance until the said episode, his only appearance in the HiT Entertainment model era and his last appearance in the model series.
- George's last non-cameo appearance, not counting the DVD game, Sir Topham Hatt's Helping Hands in US on Come Ride the Rails, although he is indirectly mentioned in the twenty-fourth series episode, The Great Little Railway Show. He was planned to appear in the twenty-third series episode Free the Roads but got dropped.
- The last appearance of Ffarquhar in the model series and its last appearance until The Adventure Begins.
- The last appearance of Knapford Sheds (not counting mentioned appearances in the twenty-first series episode, A Shed for Edward and the All Engines Go episode, Goodnight Gordon and an indirect mention in the seventeenth series episode, Steamie Stafford).
- The last to be released on VHS in the UK and Ireland.
- The last time where Rusty's gender is neutral.
- The last US DVD to feature a trailer of the children's television series Kipper.
- The last appearance of Gordon's sad face.
- The last production of the main show to use stock footage produced by Gullane Entertainment and the classic era in general. Although here, it is from the Jack and the Sodor Construction Company series that was later released in 2006 and also used stock footage from the classic era.
- The last full appearance of Thomas' unused third series anxious face which has teeth on his lower lip.
- The last time Thomas and Percy's original plastic models are used for normal filming. From the tenth series all the way until the end of the model era, their brass models that were made during production of Thomas and the Magic Railroad were primarily used. Though Thomas' plastic model was used in scenes to prevent damage to the brass model.
- The final special released during David Mitton and George Carlin's lifetimes before their passing in 2008.
- Stock footage from Percy's Scary Tale, Fish, Thomas and the Circus, Emily's Adventure, Percy's New Whistle, Thomas and the Firework Display, Edward the Great, Emily's New Route and some learning segments such as Being Blue, How Does Emily Get to the Station?, Toby is Surprised to see... and How Does Thomas Get to the Timber Yards? are used.
- Despite being filmed in 2003, Percy's Scary Tale would not be released until the next year in 2006, making the shot featured in Calling All Engines! the first known instance of footage from Jack and the Sodor Construction Company to be seen anywhere.
- Nearly four years after the release, the songs were re-released with extended versions with lyrics on the UK DVD Songs from Sodor.
- This special aired on Channel Five's Milkshake in the UK on Christmas Eve 2007, on Boxing Day 2008 and finally on Christmas Eve 2009.
- This special was originally going to be released on VHS in Australia but it was cancelled due to VHS releases no longer being available in Australia from late 2005 onwards.[4]
- This is the second time an engine has been pushed onto the coal tipper. The first time was in the sixth series episode Middle Engine. It would later happen again in Hide and Peep.
- A blackboard in the airport manager's office shows flights from Athens, Madrid, Brussels, Paris, Istanbul, Milan, Canterbury, Bristol and London.
- Toad's scrap model from the third series episode, Escape is seen when Henry and Percy are at the smelter's yard.
- Though this special was filmed during the eighth series, it takes place between it and the ninth series.
- Several props including a yellow paint pot along with two paint pot lids, that have all remained on top of Thomas after he gets covered in paint, were sold to The Coffey Man Preservation from The Prop Store.
- Mavis receives a new horn sound starting with this special until the sixteenth series episode Thomas and the Sounds of Sodor (excluding the fifteenth series and the rest of the sixteenth series). It was also used for her in some games and merchandise.
- Rusty's small-scale model is used.
- This special was shown for one week only in Cinemax cinemas in Germany in September 2006.
- An edited image from the seventh series episode, Toby's Windmill is on the back cover of the UK DVD, with Toby's face changed from sad to happy.
- The US cover of this special was reused for a box of fruit snacks based on the series and included a mail-away offer for a Wooden Railway Paint Splattered Thomas. One box of them made a background appearance in the CBS television show, The Big Bang Theory in an episode called "The Terminator Decoupling" in the second series.
- In the close-up of Percy sleeping, his sleeping face was edited to make him look like he is frowning. During his nightmare, Percy was wearing goggles.
- When the US DVD was re-released in 2014, the bonus features were removed. Strangely enough however, the individual learning segments, as well as individual music videos for Busy, Trying, Together and The Dream Song are still present on the disc itself, but are not accessible through the menu, making them essentially hidden tracks. They may be accessed through the title selection on a media player such as VLC media player.
- When the special was shown on Nick Jr. in the UK and Ireland, the learning segments and songs were removed.
- In the Calling All Engines! game, Diesel 10's animated picture was illustrated by Richard Courtney, the same man who illustrated the book Diesel 10 Means Trouble.
- As Thomas and the Magic Railroad was never shown in Spain, Romania, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Hungary, Serbia, the Czech Republic, Poland and Indonesia, the audiences from those countries would not know who Lady and Diesel 10 are.
- A large brown building from TUGS appears before Diesel crashes in a shed. A grey building from TUGS also appears when Henry is pushed under the oil pipe.
- Whilst Thomas was sleeping with Emily in the carriage shed for the third time, his neutral face is edited with closed eyelids to make it look like he is sleeping.
- While Edward is sleeping at Tidmouth Sheds, his wincing face, which was presumably made for the second series episode, Edward's Exploit since its adaption from the Railway Series book Main Line Engines, was used. This would mark the third of its four appearances, with the others being Halloween, You Can Do it, Toby! and Henry's Lucky Day.
- According to Sam Barlow, the reason why Lady and Diesel 10 were in the movie was that they were successful in the merchandise and because it was a requirement by HIT Entertainment to add them into the plot. Despite their appearances in the special, the writers have stated that this is not a sequel to Thomas and the Magic Railroad.
- In a behind the scenes photo of James as a coconut shy from his nightmare, he was seen with his red-nosed angry face from the third series episode, Buzz, Buzz.[5]
- The Taiwanese DVD Main menu shows an image of Thomas from Thomas and the Magic Railroad.
- The Brazilian DVD was originally titled "Preparando as Máquinas" ("Preparing the Machines" in Portuguese) but was changed to "Nos Trilhos de Grandes Aventuras" (the Brazilian Portuguese adaptation of the phrase "Making Tracks to Great Destinations"). Later on, however, it was re-issued to feature a variation of the US cover with the actual Brazilian Portuguese title of the special.
- A limited edition of the DVD packaged with a Limited Edition Collection Thomas toy also featured a variation of the US cover but retained the "Nos Trilhos de Grandes Aventuras" title.
- Starting also from this special until the twelfth series, Emily's whistle sound changed to Edward's fourth and fifth series whistle, which was also Henry's whistle but at two steps higher-pitched. However, Emily had Henry's whistle sound at the end of the song Busy.
- Salty's seventh series horn sound was reused for Diesel 10 but only in this special.
- This special's songs were never dubbed in Serbian, Russian, Greek, Chinese Mandarin, Taiwanese Mandarin and Cantonese.
- This special's Engine Roll Call song was never dubbed in Hungarian, Czech and Indonesian.
- This special's Russian and Greek dubs play the instrumental versions for all songs.
- This special's Indonesian dub plays the instrumental version for the Engine Roll Call song.
- This special's Swedish dub of the Engine Roll Call song is played for the thirteenth series version of the song.
- According to SiF's interview with Sam Barlow, Duck was originally considered to be part of the Steam Team. However, he was dropped in favour of Emily so as to give a female character a more prominent role. Had Duck been retained for this special, this would have been his first appearance in a special.
- Gordon's dream in which he is turned into playground equipment is reminiscent of the magazine story, Old Victor.
- The frame rate for the main feature on the US DVD is reduced to 24 frames per second, which results in motion blur throughout the video.
- Gravy was used for the oil that Henry gets covered in.
- This special was shown in theatres in Japan in September 2014 to celebrate the Days Out with Thomas events at the Ōigawa Railway.
Goofs
- When Emily passes the Windmill at the beginning of the special, the middle wheel of the rear coach has been pushed out of its housing.
- The order of the engines at Tidmouth Sheds changes from night to morning, as Henry and Gordon and Percy and Thomas swap places respectively and Gordon's lamp disappears.
- Emily has Henry's whistle sound at the end of the Busy song, but when all of the engines go to the Coaling Plant, she has Edward's fourth series whistle sound.
- When Thomas and Percy pass each other at Brendam Docks, the truck in front of Thomas wobbles.
- Diesel has 'Arry's horn sound when he leaves Brendam Docks with the trucks full of bananas.
- As Diesel 10 is loading scrap into trucks at the Smelter's Yard, he knocks one of the trucks off the line.
- When Henry says, "Now where will we sleep?", his eyes are misaligned.
- During the storm scene, James' eyes are misaligned and his right eye (viewers' left) moves on its own.
- In the third interactive learning segment, Annie is facing backwards.
- Diesel's eyes are misaligned in some scenes.
- Gordon's buffers are crooked in some scenes.
- During Diesel 10's second scene, his pupils become smaller.
- When the foreman tells Diesel to let Thomas try to lower the beam, the brim of a workman's hat has a small chip in it.
- The narrator says that the workmen attached lots of cables to Thomas, but only one cable is shown.
- When Diesel prepares to biff the flatbed of paint pots, his eyes pop out for a few seconds.
- When the paint pots bounce onto Thomas after being bumped by Diesel, the former's cab roof bounces out of place for a moment.
- When 'Arry bumps James under the coal hopper, he is missing the dust from the gravel pile that Thomas biffed him into, but it reappears on him at the washdown.
- Percy is smiling in his dream before he says, "Bust my boiler!".
- Due to stock footage being used, when the narrator says, "Soon all the engines on the island knew about the meeting", a fish can be seen on Thomas' boiler.
- In the Greek dub, James' English name is used once.
- All the Nordic DVD Menus use an image from the sixth series episode A Friend in Need.
- Edward's whistle is bent when he is on his way to the Coaling Plant.
- During the meeting at the Coaling Plant, a purple mark can be seen on the bottom right corner of 'Arry's front. This is due to his model having been repainted from Splatter after production of Thomas and the Magic Railroad was completed.
- During the final learning segment, when Percy and Mavis are collecting the paint, five of the paint pots on the two flatbeds are missing their cover lids.
- During the final learning segment, when Toby arrives at Kellsthorpe, his eyes are misaligned.
- Wires are visible through Daisy's windows.
- In the shot of the Sodor Airport office, the water tower is seen standing outside of the window despite it having already collapsed.
- During Harvey's last scene, as he is unloading some cargo from a flatbed, the top of his face almost falls off.
- Due to reusing faces from Thomas and the Magic Railroad and having new faces, the size of Diesel 10's face changes throughout the special.
- The narrator says, "Thomas and Diesel 10 were puffing as fast as they could", but Diesel 10 is a diesel and therefore does not puff.
- Due to an improper promo used on the 2005 US disc and the Lion Cub Films disc, James' tender is not fully rendered in.
- On some copies of the 2005 US disc, there is a white spot on Thomas' cab.
- The original US DVD back cover says the film is 150 minutes. This was later fixed on the Lionsgate and Universal releases.
- In the menu intro, Percy has Thomas' whistle sound.
- When Play Once or Continuously or Fun and Games is selected, Thomas has a different whistle sound.
- In Calling All Engines - The Game on the US/Canadian DVD:
- In Harold's Special Delivery and Fix the Bridge Game, James has Thomas' whistle sound.
- In Percy's Paint Game, Percy has Thomas' whistle sound and one of his side rods is not connected to his cylinders.
- In Thomas' Runway Challenge, Thomas has a different whistle sound.
- On the Lion Cub Films disc, Gordon's cab is cut off and his tender is missing.
- On the Maple Pictures and Alliance Films discs, the part of Gordon, James and Percy's buffers are cut off and James' tender is cut off.
- The sneak peek reels and the HiT Parade from October 2005-January 2006 still used the coming soon preview despite the special having already been released by that point. The possible reason this was still used was likely because some of the DVDs were produced before its release.
