Dr. Elle Bowd is an ecologist and research fellow at the Fenner School of Environment & Society, Australian National University. She works across Australian eucalypt forests and woodlands in the ACT, NSW and Victoria focusing on ecology, and has a long-standing interest in above and below-ground interactions and how they are shaped by fire. She works on cross-cultural projects that partner with First Nations Peoples to support Indigenous-led management of Country, including the re-emergence of cultural burning. This work aims to generate an interface between First Nations knowledge and management, and western science, and generate tangible benefits for First Nations communities. Dr. Bowd’s research focuses on understanding how ecosystems respond to different kinds of fire in different Australian environments.
