From Transformers Wiki
Hi, my name is Chris, and I wrote several Transformers-related articles during my time at Multiversity Comics.
- Transformers at 40: What the Robots in Disguise Taught Me About Being Human - 2024
- Ten Transformers Who Deserve a Live-Action Paramount+ Spin-Off - 2024
- Transformers: Beast Wars #1 review - 2021
- Bumblebee movie review - 2018
- It’s Over, Finished: The End of IDW’s Transformers - 2018
I'm still writing about Transformers FWIW:
And I had work published about Transformers before that:
Transformers I would like
- G1 comics Ratchet (complete with realistic ambulance alt mode)
- Animated season four Ironhide, or something like it
- MTMTE Hot Rod
- MTMTE Cyclonus
- Deluxe Rung
- Victorion
- Nautica
- Aileron
Surprisingly many thoughts about the Thirteen
I like the Thirteen, who've got me back into collecting the toys, as I'm a big Lord of the Rings fan; it's nice Transformers effectively has its own take on the Valar, and Megatronus and Solus Prime have huge Sauron/Galadriel energy. (Although I still imagine them being voiced by Virginia Madsen, and the late, great Tony Todd.)
I used to think Omegatron should've have been the name of the Fallen, until I saw Transformers One, and realised it's much easier for a kid to understand how Megatron would be derived from Megatronus.
Like many, I'm not a fan of the idea of Optimus being the Thirteenth Prime. I think IDW '05 did well with the concept, but given how different their cosmology was, it really was an exception that proves the rule. (While on the subject: I think it would've absolutely made sense for the Quintessons to be the Transformers' creators in that continuity, especially with how it skewed older.) If I were overseeing my own Transformers series, I'd pick between the following instead:
- Rung, bringing them full circle
- Rodimus Prime, further preventing the implication a Prime is simply the best because he's a reincarnation
- Nova Prime, although like Zeta and Sentinel, I still see him as an interim Prime (also Nova would lie about being the Thirteenth)
- Solomus/Tyrest, who is a member of the Thirteen in the pre-Aligned continuities now. However, I think it'd be more interesting to treat the Guiding Hand as Primus's fellow Light Gods.
- Omega Supreme, who's certainly old enough, though like Optimus, the character deserves better than the baggage of being an original Prime.
- Last Autobot, another official member of the pre-Aligned Thirteen, who's basically what Omega should've been. I think it would make a lot of sense, if only because it would completely explain his absence.
I wrote this before I read the notes on the Thirteenth's page, where it becomes apparent Hasbro simply forgot about or weren't aware of the Last Autobot when creating the group, so he may've been them if they had been.
In any case, it would be nice if AOTP (or the next toy line) included alternate Primes, including a rerelease of the transforming Ark as the Last Autobot, as well as the Legacy version of Alpha Trion.
