Talk:Shellformer
From Transformers Wiki
Almost always alternate form which unpeels... in what case does the robot unpeel?
I'd suggest G1 Scourge as probable earliest use of this type of design.

- I'm interested in any "reverse-shellformer" examples as well. Anyone? Can we remove that modifier until an example comes along? Buttbutt 00:56, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hmm, maybe G1 Ultra Magnus or RID Prime? --MistaTee 02:27, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
- Slumblebee is both a shellformer and a reverse-shellformer. - Starfield 14:23, 8 October 2009 (EDT)
Should we mention Grimlock, Slag, and Sludge in the article? They do use shellforming to an extent. ZeldaTheSwordsman 21:29, 27 April 2010 (EDT)
- That is not shellformering. That's just kibble. --ItsWalky 21:41, 27 April 2010 (EDT)
Should Voyager-Class Sentinel Prime (ROTF) be added? Inkblot 09:45, 10 December 2011 (EST)
Under-3
Seriously... the ultimate shellformer. Right?--Nevermore (talk) 06:04, 19 July 2016 (EDT)
Picking on the size classes meant for younger fans
I really don't think we should have the McDonald's toy, the One-Step Changer, the Turbo Changer, or any other toy from a size class that is generally simplified for younger fans. We should, of course, make a note that such size classes often have shellformers, but putting them in the gallery with toys from size classes that are generally larger and more complex isn't fair to them. It's one thing for us to make fun of the Ultra Class Big Convoy for being a shellformer, but literally putting Under-3 right next to him seems a little cruel to the latter. --Khajidha (talk) 14:41, 18 October 2018 (EDT)
- Absolutely. The entire POINT of figures like that is that they are designed to be ultra simplistic figures that shellform and the like. A mention is warranted, but not full inclusion.
- (And yes, I know the bigger toys are technically designed to shellform too. You know what I mean.) Crossfire 20:19, 18 October 2018 (EDT)
- I'm confused by the notion that this article is "making fun" of anything. Although I agree that Under-3 doesn't really fit in. --KilMichaelMcC (talk) 21:14, 18 October 2018 (EDT)
Siege Starscream
I don't know if he's as extreme as some of the other examples here; the nosecone becomes his little shoulder thingies, and he does have some panels flip around. Granted, the transformation IS on the comparatively lazy side, since he essentially lays down and curls into a ball to "transform", but it just feels like "shellformer" doesn't really work for him. Just my 2c. Doc Chloroplast (talk) 15:33, 25 July 2023 (EDT)
