For some reason, the first Sentinel had gardening shears for hands.

The Sentinels were a series of combat robots used by Shockwave on Cybertron. None of them appeared able to speak or transform, but they sure did die easily.

When the Dinobots arrived on Cybertron through the space bridge, a large battle ensued in Decepticon Headquarters between the stompin' cyber-saurians and Shockwave's guard robots. Despite destroying many of them, the Dinobots, except for Swoop, were overwhelmed and captured.

Later, Spike Witwicky and Carly also used the Space Bridge to reach Cybertron, and quickly managed to escape from Shockwave's control room. The guardian of Cybertron then dispatched "the Sentinel", a treaded robot with pincer-like hands, to deal with the humans. Thinking fast, Spike crushed its head in a gigantic sliding door, destroying it. A group of guards accompanied the Head Guard in locating and capturing the two humans, who had joined up with Swoop. The prisoners were then sent to the Cybertonium Pit, where they were watched until a fight broke out between Spike and Grimlock. Lowering the force-field in order to remove the humans, the guards were attacked by the Dinobots, who made short work of them. Desertion of the Dinobots, Part 2

On Cybertron, everything is aerodynamic.

Later, when Chromia, Firestar, and Moonracer escaped capture at Shockwave's hand, he sent a different Sentinel, which was capable of flight, after the trio of fleeing Autobots. Though the wheeled, multi-gunned machine tracked them to the general vicinity of their secret headquarters, this Sentinel was obliterated by a single blast from Moonracer's pistol. When next encountered, Shockwave had a large group of "Sentinel guards"—of a different make from the last two units—which he deployed in practice military maneuvers with giant holograms. These Sentinels were present when an asteroid arrived on Cybertron carrying the banished Combaticons.

Minutes from agonizing death, rest assured.

Shockwave and the Sentinels defended the planet from these renegades, who combined into Bruticus and utterly annihilated them. A short while later, the Sentinels assisted a joint Decepticon-Autobot task force in defeating the giant Bruticus, although many more were reduced to scrap in the process. The Revenge of Bruticus

Unite Warriors

Even in 2021, years after Shockwave's disappearance from Cybertron, Sentinels continued to guard his base. Lunaclub, Moonheart and Trickdiamond destroyed them when they invaded the base in search of Megaempress. Megatronia Chapter

Honestly, this is the most effective version of the Sentinel.

Sentinel is an "Accessory" character for the Deceptihogs. When equipped, he gives an increase to the explosive force of his partner's weapon. This bonus can be increased with level upgrades, won from random-prize Crates or in the "Shockwave's Tower" mini-game.

He can be unlocked by purchasing him with Gems in the Barracks, with Tokens during specific Challenge Events, or won from Crates and Shockwave's Tower. Angry Birds Transformers

Notes

  • The Sentinel that appeared in "The Search for Alpha Trion" was actually a re-used robot model from "Desertion of the Dinobots, Part 2". Presumably this means the original robot in "Desertion of the Dinobots" was one in a series, as Shockwave disintegrated it shortly after Spike and Carly tried to use it as cover
  • The army of Sentinel guards that appear in "The Revenge of Bruticus" likewise re-use a model from "Desertion of the Dinobots, Part 2". In this case, they recolored the model of the Head Guard, who was turned into molten metal by Slag.

Foreign names

  • Japanese: Destron Keibi Robo (デストロン警備ロボ Desutoron Keibi Robo, "Destron Guard Robo"), Guard Robot ("The Revenge of Bruticus", ガードロボット Gādo Robotto)
