Marvel The Transformers comics
Sammy, Jed, and Allan went to an empty train yard to play Space Wars, though Jed had to take his sister, Robin Lindley, along to babysit, which Sammy didn't appreciate. When Robin first began complaining that she wanted to go home, Sammy became vocal about his distaste over the situation. His complaints were dismissed by Allan, who accused him of simply being grumpy over having been "killed" in their game. Their argument was interrupted by Jed, who reported that a police car was driving by. The gang was briefly forced into hiding, before they attempted to sneak off and continue their make-believe. Jed then spotted a motorcycle with no rider, and exclaimed as much to the others. Sammy thought he was playing another joke, so he and the others followed him to call his fib.
Looking about, Sammy discovered Blaster, who had been mode locked and deposited in a drainage pipe. The tape deck spoke, which freaked out Sammy and sent him to the other children. Jed, incredulous, took his turn accusing Sammy of lying. Robin calmly found Blaster, and presented him to the other children, which allowed him to display his speaking abilities to all of them.
A nearby battle between Bruticus and Defensor then came within visual range of the children, scaring them witless. They were jolted out of their stupor by Blaster, who asked the children for help, and managed to talk Allan into removing his mode lock, against the wishes of the other children. The four friends then found themselves staring up at yet another giant robot, but Blaster assured them that he meant them no harm.
To fool Bruticus, who had defeated Defensor, into believing that Blaster had no loyalty to the Autobots, Blaster and the children put on a show where Blaster "shot" Sammy and Jed burst into tears for his fallen friend. The distraction allowed Blaster to put Bruticus out of commission, and Blaster received permission from the Protectobots to escort the children to safety.
The children, seeing Blast Off inert, convinced Blaster to accompany them into space by mode locking Blast Off and using him as their vehicle. Unfortunately, another spaceship, the Ark, came upon them in orbit, and opened fire on their vessel. Child's Play
Blaster, realizing the danger he was putting the children in, was about to surrender to Grimlock, but Sammy selflessly tossed Blaster out of the space shuttle, away from the Autobots. The kids were taken into Wheeljack's custody and outfitted with spacesuits. They were then brought before Grimlock, who deemed them guilty of helping the traitorous Blaster and sentenced them to death. In reality, this was a ruse to draw out Blaster, who would be compelled to save the children. Just as they were sent drifting into space, they were suddenly swallowed by Sky Lynx, who was saving them on Wheeljack's behalf. Sky Lynx attempted to escape the pursuing Dinobots, but it took Blaster giving himself up to ensure the children's safety. Spacehikers!
The Spacehikers were allowed to be transported by Sky Lynx back to Earth, but when they received a broadcast advertising the Cosmic Carnival, the kids begged to go. Sky Lynx obliged. There, they were delighted by the spectacles, but Berko, working for Big Top, demanded payment for the group. When their supplies of various currencies came up short, Sky Lynx and the children were forced to become part of the circus, working towards some undefined debt. Sammy was forced to dribble a basketball among other "tricks" for the amusement of slack-jawed aliens.
Optimus Prime and his band of Autobots were attracted to the Cosmic Carnival by yet another advertisement, this time featuring Sky Lynx. Happening upon the children's enclosure, Optimus became enraged that they were being held against their will. Recognizing Optimus's resemblance to their previous Autobot friends, Sammy and his friends rushed to him and begged for his help. Though at first it seemed that the Autobots were unwilling to go against the legal contract binding the children to their enslavement, they eventually came through. Goldbug broke the kids out with help from a repentant Berko. Despite some interference from Big Top and his circus gang, the children and Sky Lynx were able to escape in the Steelhaven. The boys then happily played some basketball to pass the time on the journey home. The Cosmic Carnival
Sky Lynx returned the children to California, and Sammy ran into his parents' arms while news networks filmed the reunion. But a gathered crowd soon turned on Sky Lynx, forcing him to leave. The four kids were sad to see their rescuer treated so badly by the anti-robot activists. Monstercon from Mars!
