Rescue Force

Rescue Force is a team of Autobots from the Generation 1 continuity family.

Rescue Force is the most important Rescue Force on the Rescue Force.

The Autobot Rescue Force is an elite team of search-and-rescue robots. Its known members are:

• Rescue Force the jet
• Rescue Force 1, the claw-tank
• Rescue Force 2, the Baja buggy
• Rescue Force 3, the drill tank

They combine to form Big Rescue Force.

Released in the eighth year of the European-market Transformers toyline (and the final one to use the original faction symbols), the Rescue Force are redecos of four out of the six Takara Breastforce Liokaiser components, but without their breastplate-partners and other accessories (with one exception, shown at right). Instead, all-new weapons were cast for each one, with these mostly being more "rescue tool"-themed than "kill things"-themed. Since the toys' combination gimmick is built-in rather than needing extra parts, you can attach them to form "Big Rescue Force"... but you end up with an armless robot whose head is nothing more than a mouthplate. Which is kinda funny, admittedly.

These toys also have two (technically three) different versions. Initial releases of the toys have their faces painted the same colors as their Breastforce forebears, and come with silver-plastic accessories. Much more common are the silver-faced versions, which could come with accessories in either the original silver or in dark red (the latter seemingly being more common).

All four Rescue Force vehicles were sold individually, but used a shared card design without any form of individual identifier, and transformation instructions for all four toys on the back (and also completely ignore the toys' combination ability, for obvious reasons). They were only available in European and Australian markets in 1992, alongside similarly-individually-nameless releases of the Constructicons.

Notes

• According to Transformers fandom member The Spacebridge, Hasbro UK designer Andy Couzens explained that the two missing Breastforce members, Guyhawk and Hellbat, were skipped because they were more complex toys that would have needed to be sold at a higher price point, which wasn't feasible at the time.^[1]
• While the Rescue Force had no individual bio information, they did receive bios (in rather broken English) as well as startlingly unimaginative names in a Transformers sticker album produced by Kent, distributed in 1993 in currently-unknown parts of Europe.
• The catalog that came packed with them says "Six unbeatable Autobots speed to the rescue" beneath a picture of the FOUR Autobots that were released. But in Spanish, it says "Cuatro"...
