- Missile silos are a weapon from the Angry Birds Transformers series.
As if dealing with hordes of laser-blasting idiot Minion Pigs wasn't enough, the cyberformed Piggy Island is also littered with missile silos, which relentlessly unload Autobird/Deceptihog-seeking missiles into the air.

Missile silos can be found in every area of Piggy Island, but will not always show up in a level. The silos themselves are completely indestructible and unstoppable, but thankfully their payloads are not. The number of missiles fired in succession depends on the difficulty of the area. Every missile unerringly homes in on the player via a wide and sometimes corkscrewing flight path, and will not miss, forcing the player to either shoot them down, or hope something gets in the way. Sometimes they even like to go off screen and home in on you right there so you're left totally vulnerable because your character can’t shoot off screen.
Naturally, some characters are much better at that first part than others. Instant-hit weapons of course can knock any missile out of the air with ease at any range. Others need to rely on letting the missile get close in order for the weapon to properly track, and for some characters with big pauses between shots, really good timing.
The silos can unload a variety of missile types, all worth 30 Coins apiece with the exception of the gold missiles, which are worth 300 Coins:
- Black missiles do a minimal bit of damage, but explode into a mess of black ink, obscuring your vision for some brief seconds. This does not actually affect your ability to aim and fire, just what you can see. As the ink fades quickly, this is really only a problem when there's already a ton of stuff flying in your direction, which might make you miss a more dangerous projectile, like...
- Gold missiles and red-warhead missiles are types of "scrambler" missiles that, upon contact with an Autobird or Deceptihog, force them to transform into... a washing machine! While the effect only lasts a few seconds, in this mode the force-'formed character can't do anything but bounce forward at a slightly-slower rate of speed. This is of course really bad for you if there's some wobbly Monoliths just ahead. Thankfully, any Energonicons or called-in partners active when the missile hits remain active during the washingmachinification. The only difference between these two types of missiles is that shooting down a gold missiles yields 300 Coins instead of 30, making gold missiles profitable targets.
- Rainbow missiles are a different type of scrambler, which forces the robot parts of the target to contort themselves into some very uncomfortable and awkward and ridiculous configurations. Like with the other scramblers, the poor target is unable to do anything until the effect wears off. (Energonicons and partners are, as before, unaffected.) However, these have an upside: shooting them out of the air causes an electromagnetic pulse of the sort caused by Electroblast, causing all other missiles and flying pigs on-screen to fall out of the sky, and grounded Minions and Walking Mortar Towers to temporarily shut down. Only shooting the missile down will produce the EMP; the missile slamming into scenery or blocks just destroys it. Another slight upside is that...players hit by these missiles will recover faster than they do after being hit by the washing machine specialist missiles.
- Giant missiles are only found in Pig City, and are the only kind of missiles launched there but are also Boss Pig's primary weapon, albeit weaker. Unlike all the other previous missiles which follow a particular spiraling fashion before slamming into the player, these missiles follow their own path and always launch just at the close moments of their silos going offscreen. These massive missiles move much slower than the others with trails of black smoke, and are often obscured by the towers and buildings between them and their target. Much tougher than ordinary missiles, they can take more than one blast to destroy (depending on the character), and do a quite a bit more damage if they connect. Luckily, only one missile launches per silo, and they don't have any other effect on the character.
Notes
- When the player is scrambled by a missile, any other missiles in-flight will change course and fly away into the sky... if they're far enough away. Close enough though, and they'll stay on course, slamming into you and keeping you locked into a ridiculous form just a little longer.
- While missiles cannot be dodged, they can be outrun, but only by the fastest characters in vehicle mode. The missiles actually have a limit to their range, and if they exceed it, they will simply vanish. Of course, you won't be toppling towers that whole time and likely be taking damage from the Piggies atop them.
- Entering Astrotrain while scrambled a certain number of times is one of the game's many Achievements. It was a possible Daily Quest for a time, but has seemingly been removed because let’s admit it, who would want to do that.
- Missiles are considered enemies, and will count 1 point towards Challenge Event scores, even if they are destroyed by slamming into you or a rock or anything else... unless they're the main target for that day, in which case the point value goes up considerably. However, you don't get the coins you'd get for shooting the missile down.
- When missiles were first introduced into the game, the silos only launched red-warhead types- seemingly providing headaches for many players alike. Not long though before updates arrived and so did other missile types.
- Rainbow missiles aren't the only way that a Transformer can be body-scrambled; if they rapidly transform back and forth, the character will get scrambled. (When they are hit by a Rainbow Missile they have electricity coming out though). The only time you'll really want to this is to complete a Game Center of Google Play Quest that occasionally pops up.
