Gaia Online is an anime-themed forum/avatar creation site released in 2003.
Gameplay
In Gaia Online, users play games and post on the forums in order to earn the ingame currency, Platinum (formerly Gold before hyperinflation made it easier to just switch currencies). Platinum can be used to buy a variety of items, but is primarily used to buy clothing to dress up a pixel-art avatar, which appears in some games and also next to forum posts.
Transformers content
Transformers content in Gaia Online is minimal, but present, consisting of one clothing item. The "Transformers Prime Chestplate" is a chestplate featuring the Autobot insignia in black, with red as an accent color around it. It is listed as being released on November 12, 2010,[1] though forum threads mentioning it are dated back to October 13, predating this.[2]
The item was part of a Hub Network sponsorship, promoting Transformers: Prime and Strawberry Shortcake.[3] Players could obtain the Transformers Prime Chestplate by watching a preview of Transformers: Prime.
The Hub also ran another thread to promote the item, featuring a poll to choose between the Autobots and Decepticons.[4]
