- Bombshell is a heroic Decepticon Insecticon from the Shattered Glass continuity family.
Bombshell is one of the Decepticons' psychologists in charge of looking after the psychiatric health of the troops, including holding regular group therapy sessions. Outside of those sessions he can often be seen making deep-voiced, calm suggestions of ways to relax and unwind. When faced with especially excitable patients—particularly hostile Autobots—he skips to administering instant sedation with his anestho-shells.

Cliffjumper ranked the possibility of seeing his own corpse as maybe the three-hundredth weirdest thing about the universe he was now stuck in, somewhere between Bombshell's group therapy sessions and the weird aftertaste that energon had. Dungeons & Dinobots
Starscream discovered that the captured Dinocons mysteriously had embers and the ability to transform, and had also become smarter and undergone some personality changes. He ordered Bombshell to give them a complete psychiatric evaluation to ensure they hadn't become dangerous. Bombshell reported that preliminary tests were "promising". Do Over
Months later on Earth, Bombshell, Blitzwing, and Sideswipe were dispatched to deal with an Autobot plot to create drone attackers out of Earth cars via a rigged car wash. Though he was unable to rein in Sideswipe's gung-ho charge on the drones themselves, Bombshell explained to the worried Blitzwing the more useful details of the situation, and reassured him that the owners of the hijacked cars would be properly compensated.
Bombshell then swooped in to attack, dodging a hail of cars thrown at him by Brawn. At first Bombshell's attempts to talk Brawn down and anesthetize him were easily blocked by the Autobot. However, once Blitzwing activated his new sonic ability, it distracted Brawn just long enough for a second anestho-shell to hit home. Since the sonic assault had also scrambled the drones, Bombshell then went to bail out Sideswipe before he got in too far over his head.
Fortunately, Bombshell and Sideswipe were able to finish off that task just in time to save Blitzwing from Elita-One, with a well-thrown car missile of their own. Their mission accomplished, Bombshell recommended they all get a nice drink of oil to relax... until he realized he could hear terrible music coming over their emergency frequency. He thought he was losing it, until they realized the worse truth that Blitzwing's sonic ability had now spread to the Decepticons as well. The three returned to the Nemesis to deal with the new development. Blitzwing Bop

IDW Shattered Glass comic
Part of the Insecticon battle squad, Bombshell joined them in infiltrating Goldbug's fortress to free Starscream from captivity. His first act was to emerge from a wall vent and use his cerebro-shell to mindjack Freeway, puppeteered into walloping fellow guard Tap-Out before himself being incapacitated by the shell's after effects. Bombshell would tragically become the first to fall, quickly slain by a blast from Goldbug's cannon before having his corpse used as a projectile weapon against his comrades. Shattered Glass issue 4

Collector's Edition
- Insectron Clone Army (Multi-pack, 2004)
- ID number: 74 (individual), 76 (clones set)
- Accessories: Bipartite ion impulse blaster, energon cube
- Collector's Edition Salvo is a redeco of the original Bombshell mold, transforming into a mechanical rhino beetle. Its coloration is based on the original pre-Transformers "Waruder Kabutron" Diaclone release; the molding is as well, as it lacks the indent in the chromed horn added during the Transformers run that enables it to fold down further in robot mode. The "control seat" in the insect-mode back / robot-mode chest can open up and store one of the three energon cubes that come with the set. Or anything else you wanna cram in there.
Notes
- Bombshell's appearance in "Epilogue Two" is inspired by his Generation 1 counterpart's original character model (recolored sketch by Jesse Wittenrich at right).
- In IDW Publishing's comic, Bombshell might be drawn according to the Combiner Wars Legends Class Bombshell toy. It's hard to tell.
