Boater

Boater is an Autobot Micromaster from the Victory era of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Clumsy on land, he should just sit this one out back in the water.

Boater (ボーター Bōtā) is sort of the little brother of the Rescue Patrol Team, ironic both because of their microstature and their equivalent ages. He is a bit of an odd bot out, though, which probably explains it. He loves to tease Holi about having a girlfriend but also wonders what it would be like to have one himself. Something to do with nuts and bolts, best not to think about it. The loooooooooooooooooooooove boat.

Zone cartoon

When Victory Saber initiated the "Zone Project", the Rescue Patrol helped rebuild planet Micro into planet Zone. To counter this threat, Violengiguar began conquering planets in order to create his own Decepticon Zone. The Race Car Patrol and all other Micromaster teams were then sent on patrol across the galaxy, specifically to planets where their unique skills could do the most good. Zone Part 1

When Bruticus attacked the planet Feminia, the Rescue Patrol were among several units of Micromasters deployed to stop him. Through teamwork, they proved triumphant. Zone Part 2

When the Nine Great Demon Generals attacked planet Feminia en masse, the Rescue Patrol Team helped evacuate the planet of as many lifeforms as possible. However, they were unable to save Victory Saber, who sacrificed himself to rescue the last of the humans. The Rescue Patrol were later seen cleaning up the Zone Base on planet Zone after another attack by the Demon Generals. Still later, they could be seen celebrating when Victory Saber (who was rescued by the Powered Masters) inaugurated Dai Atlas as new Supreme Commander. Enter the New Supreme Commander, Dai Atlas!

When the Powered Masters flew off to the Tenth Planet for their showdown with Violengiguar, all the Micromaster teams took command of Zone and vowed to keep it safe in their Commander's absence. Zone Part 10

Micro Transformers: American Rescue Team

  • Kōsokutei (Micro Transformer, 1996)
  • ID number: 04
American Rescue Team Kōsokutei (高速艇, "High Speed Boat") is identical the previous releases of Boater.
He was sold individually with a puzzle piece and a piece of candy. Collecting all four puzzle pieces would complete a play mat for the team.

Legacy

(thumbnail)
You thought you'd never see a boat Transformer in a modern toyline, didn't you?
Legacy Boater once again transforms into a tiny speedboat, albeit now with a more involved transformation and improved posability. He is now very anime-accurate in coloration, an effect achieved by him being entirely cast in white plastics with his hull painted over in light blue, so exercise caution there.
Unlike most modern Micromasters, Boater does not have any kind of third "weapon" mode whatsoever.
He and his fellow Rescue Patrol Team teammate Pīpō were only available with the HasLab Deathsaurus set; the two were added to the set as a reward to the fans for making Deathsaurus the most successful Transformers Haslab project to date on December 13, 2022, one day after funding was closed for Deathsaurus. Obviously, the pair are intended to complete the first "anime colors" version of the Rescue Patrol Team, with Holi and Fire having come with the previous Transformers HasLab, Deathsaurus's Autobot Rival Victory Saber.

Notes

  • In the Victory anime, Holi and Boater (who are gang-molded) were consistently drawn and colored as if their black plastic parts had instead been produced in white. In Boater's case, it made him look like a Rocket-Pop. It is possible that Takara had plans at one point to release them in these colors, so that Holi would more closely resemble a Japanese highway patrol car. In Zone, Holi was finally colored to match his toy, but Boater remained inaccurate.

Foreign names

  • English: Seawatch (Omni Productions dub)
  • Mandarin: Lánhǎi (Taiwan, 藍海, "Blue Sea"), Tànzǐhào (China, 探子号, "Scout")
  • Russian: Spasatel' (Спасатель, "Rescuer")
