Originally released on PC, Coffee Stain Studios has released its Game of the Year contender, Satisfactory, today on PS5. For the first time on consoles, the beloved open-world factory-sim will take advantage of Sony’s hardware with platform-specific enhancements and other features PlayStation players have come to expect.

What is Satisfactory and what features are coming to PS5?

The PS5 version of Satisfactory includes several features that will take advantage of the console. Three performance presets are available to help players tailor the experience to the player’s liking. These include a Quality mode running at 30 frames per second, Balanced at 40 FPS, and Performance at 60 FPS. It also features cloud saving, console crossplay, and haptic feedback via the DualSense controller.

Here is a trailer and a brief description of Satisfactory, giving PlayStation players a glimpse of what to expect from the open-world building game:

“Satisfactory is a first-person open-world factory building game with a dash of exploration and combat. Play alone or with friends, explore an alien planet, create multi-story factories, and enter conveyor belt heaven!”

Satisfactory is available for PS5 now on the PlayStation Store for $39.99.

When Satisfactory released its 1.0 update for PC last year, it was universally acclaimed by critics. According to the review aggregate site Metacritic, it garnered an average score of 91 across 18 critic reviews, making it one of the highest reviewed games in 2024. It was also nominated for a few awards, winning the PC Game of the Year at the Golden Joystick Awards.

Players seem to share this sentiment. On the PC gaming platform Steam, user reviews are “overwhelmingly positive,” with over 122,000 reviews submitted.

Coffee Stain Studios recently released its 1.1 update for Satisfactory, which included controller support, photo mode, and more. The studio is currently working on its 1.2 update.
