Blois Olson wears many hats, some of them seemingly incompatible. He describes himself as a content provider to thought leaders and a counselor to business and public officials. The content side manifests in his collection of "Take" newsletters (Morning Take, Business Take, et al.), aggregating locally relevant content from other media, plus his role as political editor at WCCO Radio. The advisory part puts him in the room with prominent people often in the middle of a news maelstrom, which sometimes leads him to sources who trust him more than the mainstream news media—during the lockdown he seemed to know what Gov. Tim Walz was planning before Walz’s own cabinet. In 2023, the Golden Valley-based Olson plans to build out his advisory practice and add sports to his stable of newsletters.
