What’s new at TaxoPress in June?
TaxoPress 3.36 is available now. The Free version is available from the WordPress plugin directory and TaxoPress members can download the Pro version from this website.
There are several helpful improvements in this release. All of these features were suggested by TaxoPress users like you.
The main feature in this release is live previews of all the frontend displays available in TaxoPress.
There’s also a new user-requested feature that improves your ability to copy terms. Another improvement in this release is that you can now set a maximum and minimum length for new terms. And it’s now easier to translate the TaxoPress plugin into new languages.

Live Preview for Displays
There’s a new preview feature for the Terms Display, Terms for Current Post, and Related Posts features. Inside TaxoPress, there are three frontend design features:
- Terms Display: This is a display of all the terms in one taxonomy.
- Terms for Current Post: This is a display of all the terms assigned to the post being viewed.
- Related Posts: This is a display of other posts that share the same terms.
All of these features now have a live preview when you’re setting up the display. In the screenshot below you can see an example of those new previews. This gives you an easy way to design layouts for your terms before you make them live on your site.

Copy with Metadata
In previous versions of TaxoPress it was possible to make a copy of terms. Some users pointed out that this feature didn’t bring over data from plugins such as Yoast SEO. So it’s now possible to use a “Copy with Metadata” feature. This will copy the term, plus any metadata that is attached to the term. You won’t lose any metadata from plugins that add SEO data, fields, or other extra information to your terms.

Maximum and Minimum Length for Terms
It’s now possible to set a maximum and minimum length for new terms when creating terms. You can also block specific characters from being used in terms. For example, you might not want punctuation such as !@#$%&*() used in your terms. You can add these restrictions using the Metaboxes feature.

These restrictions will apply when users are in the TaxoPress metabox and using the “Create Terms” tab, as in this screenshot.

It’s Easier to Translate TaxoPress
In this latest release, we’ve added support for the popular Loco Translate plugin.
- After installing the Loco Translate plugin, go to “Loco Translate” then “Plugins” in the WordPress admin menu.
- Click on the name of the plugin you want to translate, which will be “TaxoPress” or “TaxoPress Pro”.
- Click on the language you want to edit. If you want to translate the plugin into a language that is not yet available, click the “New language” link.
