Swimwear season is in full swing and if you already have your basics covered and want to give your swimsuit drawer a quick little refresh, a trendy style might be right up your alley. The 2025 swimsuit trends have a vast range, so there’s pretty much something for everyone. Black one pieces? Yes. Groundbreaking florals? You bet. Picnic chic gingham? Of course.

The Best of 2025 Swimsuit Trends

In recent years, swimwear has taken center stage in the fashion industry, with fashion houses and celebrities blending (and styling) bathing suits with everyday apparel. (Think a bikini top under a blazer with wide-leg pants or a two-piece under a sheer gown for a hot night in the city.) Take LaQuan Smith, for example. The designer’s spring/summer collection featured models strutting down the catwalk in high-cut one-pieces alongside others in gowns and trench coats. To me, the message was that swimwear is just as important as suits and gowns. 

Additionally, swimsuit designs have evolved tremendously. Brands have begun incorporating trends like embellishments, structural shapes, and out-of-the-box colors into swimwear designs—creating more interest and excitement than ever before. Swimwear has also become more inclusive. We’re seeing more designs that flatter different figures and sizes—all with the goal of celebrating the body. 

This year’s trends include a good mix of neutral and bold. Neutral hues are ultra-popular, as well as some more artful designs. You’ll also see fun takes on florals and bold prints. Fashion stylist Nena Evans also says to look for embellished details. “Everything from gold statement hardware, to shell straps, to pearl appliqué—any swimsuit with unique adornments will be all the rage this year,” she notes. And, of course, gingham is everywhere right now, which Evans says are “the best swimsuit trend for casual coastal getaways.”

What to Look for in Trendy Swimwear

When it comes to picking out the right swimsuit for you, think about your physique first. What will make you feel the sexiest? The most comfortable? Are you trying to highlight your curves or cinch in your waist? Luckily, details like trendy patterns, strategic cuts, and innovative necklines are there to help you look the way you want to.

Evans also says to always consider the destination and the purpose when shopping for swimwear. “If you’re headed somewhere tropical, consider vibrant colors and bold prints, think la dolce vita if you’re going on a European escape, and stick to darker colors and sportier styles if you’re going on a lake adventure,” she notes.
