Fall is ~officially~ here and autumnal tones are taking over our wardrobes. Beyond chocolate brown and golden caramel hues, transitional accessories like silk scarves—tied around your neck or your waist—cozy socks, and lots of bag charms are in the spotlight this season. And, of course, you can’t forget the jewelry.
“Stacking and layering are still key trends [this season] because they give the wearer an opportunity to show personality,” says celebrity stylist Samantha Brown. “A collection of charms, varied beads, unexpected pearls, and celestial designs are all popular for the season.” In addition to these styles, Brown says sculptural jewelry is also having a moment right now.
When curating your fall jewelry, Brown says to ensure that the pieces first and foremost feel personal and authentic to you. “I love stacking and layering pieces together to create a more unique look,” she explains. In addition to layering, you can also customize your jewelry style with personal charms, initials, engraved pieces, and estate jewelry to highlight your unique sense of style. Brown also recommends mixing metals and textures, as these look particularly stunning this time of year.
Styling jewelry in the fall (and winter) is a bit tricky since you’re dealing with heavier garments and more coverage. Instead of trying to wear all of these pieces at once with your chunky cableknits and puffer coats, Brown says to use jewelry as a way to fill in the gaps. “If you’re already framing your face with a turtleneck, put something in your ears, stack bangles, wear a watch on the outside of your sleeve, or add a bold statement ring to elevate your look.”
