“I bought the original HigherDOSE Infrared Sauna Blanket back when it came in a fun purple hue in 2020 and have used it religiously ever since. However, I recently upgraded to the current Infrared Sauna Blanket, which is just slightly different. Although the actual technology hasn’t changed, some design details have, including a new sleek black colorway and zipper closure (the original one had a velcro closure), plus it’s a lot easier to fold up and store.

The HigherDOSE Sauna Blanket boasts a compact sleeping bag-like design that is super convenient and easy to store in small spaces. I also love that the brand carries some functional accessories, like the Sauna Blanket Insert and the Sauna Blanket Bag (psst: you can also get these in a bundle with the sauna, here), which make using it and storing it so much easier. 

I’ve tested this blanket in all sorts of ways, including as a post-workout recovery tool, while fighting colds (sweating always makes me feel better), and when I need to warm up on a super cold day. It’s designed for 30 to 45-minute sessions and features far infrared heat to detox, boost circulation, and reduce inflammation, a magnetic layer of clay and charcoal to balance the heat and provide a more grounding sensation, and a layer of amethyst and tourmaline crystals which naturally balance negative ions and boost the benefits of infrared. “This was my first time trying out a sauna blanket, and I’ll say, it was a very luxe experience to have from the comfort of my own home. When I first tried out Heat Healer’s Infrared Sauna Blanket, I was bouldering three to four times a week—and my body was incredibly sore. To say I noticed a difference after the first use is an understatement; my back and legs needed the most attention, and this allowed those muscle areas to truly relax while melting away any pain. 

As someone who overheats rather easily, I realized a sauna blanket is the perfect alternative to using an actual sauna in a spa. I can normally only last a couple of minutes in a traditional sauna before feeling woozy, so being able to control the temperature of the blanket (and have the layer of jade and tourmaline distribute the heat in an effective yet not overpowering way) was incredibly helpful. Plus, if you plan on sharing it with others, I like that it has a wipe-clean surface for easy maintenance. 

My only qualm with now owning an infrared sauna blanket is storage. While the Heat Healer does come with a portable bag (alongside other necessary inclusions, like a neck pillow and a washable slip), finding a place to stow it away in my small New York City apartment has been a challenge.

“I’ve never used an infrared sauna blanket before, but boy, am I glad I started with LifePro’s RejuvaWrap . First off, it comes with everything you need to get quality R+R. You’ll find the blanket, the controller, a face towel, a carrying bag, and five disposable thermal detox wraps in the box. While these various components and setup were initially a tad overwhelming, the user manual came in clutch and was very straightforward and informative.

I slipped into the RejuvaWrap right after playing in a 45-minute soccer game, and although I was incredibly exhausted, this blanket sent me straight into spa mode. For 30 minutes at Level 5 temperature level (133-140°F), I got much-needed recovery time and sweat a little bit but wasn’t drenched, which is what I was aiming for. It was such a relaxing experience that I had to resist dozing off in the infrared sauna blanket (10/10 would not recommend falling asleep for obvious safety reasons). But I realized just how much my body needed this 30-minute session with all the soreness and aches I felt after soccer. This blanket is the perfect way to unwind and improve your overall wellness, regardless of whether you have a super active lifestyle. Anyone can reap its multitude of benefits!

I appreciate the blanket’s design, specifically the neck hole, so you can support your neck and head with a pillow. However, I wish I had rolled out my blanket on my rug, couch, or bed because the hardwood floor was a bit stiff, and I had to adjust my positioning a few times. “The HigherDOSE Full Body Red Light Mat is not technically a sauna blanket, but it’s a great sauna blanket alternative if you can’t take the heat, or prefer to reap the benefits of red light vs. infrared sauna. This is one of the most versatile pieces of wellness tech I’ve ever tried. The device features a full panel of red light therapy (660nm red and 850nm near-infrared, pulsing NIR at 40Hz to be exact) that you can lay on, wrap yourself in, or hang up as a makeshift panel. It also stacks well with the HigherDOSE PEMF Mat, another one of my favorite wellness tools.

I have a lot of red light therapy devices—including an actual standing panel, face mask, hat, and gloves—and this one can basically replace them all (though I do still like using these smaller devices for more targeted red light therapy). I’ve seen the SereneLife Sauna all over social media (some of my friends are obsessed with theirs) and it’s one of the top-rated portable saunas on Amazon. This is a great choice if you like the idea of a sauna tent with infrared and are willing to splurge a bit (it’s only $50 more than the Sharper Image Portable Steamer Sauna Portable Spa). It’s also a great option for those who want to keep their head away from the heat and prefer a seated style.
