The tongue was a muscle located in the mouths of some organisms which could be used to manipulate food. Some species, such as Gungans and ikopis, were capable of extending the tongues from their mouths to reach food or liquid and pull it into their mouths.[2] The H'nemthe species were known for their sharp tongues.[3]

The saying "A took got your tongue?" was used to encourage someone who was being unusually quiet, to speak out.[4]
