The sunberry tree was a type of tree found on the forest moon Endor. Its inner bark was chewy but edible to members of the Ewok species. The Ewok Wicket Wystri Warrick usually kept sunberry tree bark among other foods on a small table in his hut in Bright Tree Village.[1] In 4 ABY,[2] Warrick let the stock of food lapse and found only a single leaf on the table, prompting him to set out to gather more food.[1]a
Behind the scenes[]
In the current Star Wars canon, the sunberry tree was mentioned in "One Normal Day," a short story written by Mary Kenney and published in the 2023 anthology From a Certain Point of View: Return of the Jedi.[1] The tree originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it first appeared in the "The Haunted Village," the second episode of the first season of the Ewoks animated series,[3] which aired on September 14, 1985.[4]
