Plot summary[]
Trapped on an old Nihil platform base, the rebel heroes are attempting to retrieve a path engine and a sacred Jedi text. Luke Skywalker is attacked by multiple kill droids, and despite the others' attempts to help, the situation looks grim. Luke focuses on the Force, levitating all the droids off the platform before violently crushing them. He then catches the Jedi book and loses consciousness.
Luke wakes up back at the base, having lost his cybernetic hand in the fight. The rebels present the path engine, and everyone in the Kezarat Colony gathers to see it. Blythe tells his people that while they may now have a way out of No-Space, the galaxy they'd return to is a challenging place. Lando and Leia explain that the galaxy is a cruel Empire ruled by a tyrant, and a rebellion is fighting a war of liberation that they may not win. Leia also confesses that the rebels originally came to No-Space looking for the colony's fuel. Blythe says he will listen to his people, noting that No-Space doesn't seem so bad after all.
After some time, Blythe tells Leia that most of his people want to leave with the rebels but have terms. Some will stay behind to continue living in the now-safer colony. The ones who leave will take the majority of the fuel with them. He also requests that one of his people be allowed to return with the path engine so that the colony can come and go from No-Space as they please. Lastly, he asks Leia to never reveal the location of No-Space to anyone. Leia agrees to all their terms.
The rebels secure many of the convoy's ships together, and during their journey, many of the ships come loose. Holdo looks up to see the stars and knows they have made it out of No-Space.
Later, in a medical bay, Luke has a new cybernetic hand attached. He explains to Leia that he sometimes feels the Force strongly, while other times it feels distant. Leia ponders if the Emperor and Darth Vader also experience this, seeing it as a potential opportunity. She says she has to talk to Mon Mothma and departs. R2-D2 presents Luke with his lightsaber, having fixed an issue with it. Luke thanks him, knowing that he will have to face Vader again and will need a new lightsaber when that day comes.
