Plot summary[]
On the planet of Spira in the Galactic Core, Amilyn Holdo tells Leia that the group is taking a well-deserved break. While Lando Calrissian and Chewbacca play a card game and Luke Skywalker reads, Amilyn reveals that the supply chain connections set up by Crimson Dawn have gone cold. She can’t even get in touch with them and her contacts are telling her that the criminal syndicate is in trouble. Amilyn then tells Leia that they have a fancy party to attend.
At an auction, Amilyn bids on a non-functional Nihil strikeship. She is locked in a bidding war with a curator from the Imperial Museum. Lando tells them to let the curator win, but Amilyn continues her bid, explaining that she has her eye on a set of tankerships full of fuel called the Kezarat Convoy.
Later, the Nihil ship is being prepped for transport in the morning. The curator instructs his stormtroopers to guard the ship all night. Luke, hooded, approaches the ship and deflects the troopers' blaster shots with his yellow lightsaber. Holdo clarifies that they just need what's inside the ship. She instructs Luke to cut a hole in the hull, and inside they find a path engine.
Holdo explains that they need to go after the Kezarat Convoy—a command ship that was part of a two-hundred-tanker convoy carrying fuel to the Outer Rim territories. She explains that two hundred years ago, the convoy vanished the same day a hyperspace storm hit, which was eventually linked to the people who used path engines: the Nihil. She explains that the Nihil were known for being destructive and savage but also had unique hyperspace technology.
Chewbacca alerts the group that Imperial TIE fighters are headed their way. As the ship jumps to hyperspace, Holdo says she wasn't the one who did it.
