Opening crawl[]

THE LAST DIVISION
Crimson Dawn is everywhere.

Shara Bey, after infiltrating the ''Tarkin's
Will'', has been captured by the Empire's
Commander Zahra. The Rebel Alliance's
Sergeant Kes Dameron plans a rescue
mission to save Shara from the Empire's
clutches.

Meanwhile, Leia Organa and the Rebels
are welcoming a surprise guest on
''Home One''….

Plot summary[]

Crimson Dawn's proposition[]

A shuttle departs the Vermillion, flagship of the crime syndicate Crimson Dawn, and travels toward the Rebel Alliance's frigate, the Home One. Onboard, Leia questions Qi'ra about the purpose of her visit. Qi'ra reveals that she has the location of the final rebel fleet division, explaining that her agents within the Empire have confirmed that Commander Zahra has hunted down all but one. With the syndicates at war, Qi'ra proposes an alliance with the Rebel Alliance, offering to use Crimson Dawn's resources to take over the rebels' supply chain. Leia agrees to the terms.

Shara's interrogation[]

Meanwhile, aboard the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer Tarkin's Will, Commander Zahra interrogates Shara Bey. Shara has provided all the intelligence she gathered but refuses to give up the rebels' new communication codes, targets, or the names of any surviving commanders from the Battle of Hoth. Zahra, in a bid to break her, shows a hologram of Shara’s baby son, Poe, and reveals she knows his location. To protect her son, Shara agrees to talk.

A eeckless eescue[]

After her meeting with Qi'ra, Leia asks Amilyn Holdo to summon Kes Dameron to discuss a plan to save Shara. Holdo reveals that Kes has already departed on a rescue mission, having lied to the deck officer and claiming Leia authorized it. Kes has taken a Pathfinder squad and Starlight Squadron, including Wedge Antilles, Freyta Smyth, Mart Mattin, L'ulo L'ampar, and Evaan Verlaine.

The rebel pilots race toward the last known location of the Tarkin's Will. Kes explains that the Star Destroyer's damaged sections provide a perfect entry point. He plans to have Starlight Squadron create a diversion while he and his team infiltrate the ship. Leia attempts to contact Kes but gets no response.

A hunter's trap[]

The Tarkin's Will deploys TIE Fighters to engage the rebel pilots, but Zahra quickly realizes it's a diversion for a rescue attempt. She orders an increase in security on the detention level and prepares to hunt the infiltration team herself.

Just then, an Imperial security alert reports the location of the rebel's Second Division at Panisia. Zahra orders the ship to jump to hyperspace, leaving the TIE fighters and the rebel pilots behind. The rebel pilots watch in surprise as the Star Destroyer, with Kes and his team still aboard, vanishes into hyperspace.

Upon arriving at Panisia, Zahra’s Star Destroyer attacks the Second Division. Imperial technicians report that many rebel ships are dropping out of hyperspace, and Zahra realizes she has jumped into an ambush.

Continuity[]

The issue incorrectly refers to Shara Bey as a captain rather than her actual rank of lieutenant.[3]
