Plot summary[]
Leia's quest for Han[]
Leia has visions of Han Solo being freed from his carbonite prison. She tells her crew that it's time to get him back. Leia reveals that an ally, Amilyn Holdo, has discovered that Crimson Dawn is holding an auction to sell Han. C-3PO translates for Chewbacca, who warns that Crimson Dawn is a notoriously dangerous criminal organization he's had negative dealings with in the past. To handle the situation, Chewbacca suggests they enlist the help of Lando Calrissian. Leia agrees and sends Chewbacca to convince him.
In the Redemption's hangar deck, Lando readily agrees to help. He tells a skeptical Chewbacca that he feels a sense of responsibility for what happened to Han. As Chewbacca leaves, Lando reveals to Lobot that he has a side deal to make with Jabba the Hutt at the Crimson Dawn event. He sends coordinates to Bib Fortuna, telling him that he will jettison the "Talky" droid into orbit for Jabba's crew to pick up.
The Crimson Dawn auction[]
Luke tells his friends that he will rendezvous with them later on the planet Jekara after he completes a patrol.
As the Millennium Falcon travels through space, Leia explains her plan: she will pose as a wealthy royal and win the auction. Lando warns her that it will be difficult to outbid the galaxy's crime syndicates, like the Hutts. He tells Leia about Crimson Dawn's violent past and its former leader, Dryden, who he believes was controlled by an even worse figure.
When they arrive at the auction's location, Lando and Lobot head to the gunports, but Lando secretly goes to retrieve the Talky droid. He turns the droid on, knowing that its processor will allow Jabba's crew to find it. As Lando prepares to jettison the droid, it surprises him by explaining that it can help fix Lobot. After the droid is gone, Lobot says he can think and talk without interference, and Lando realizes they need to get it back. But the Millennium Falcon has already jumped to hyperspace. Lando promises to find a way to fix Lobot.
Leia explains that Chewbacca is taking the Falcon to the far side of the planet to avoid detection. Lando complains that the ship is too recognizable for such a mission. As they argue, a Black Sun ship drops out of hyperspace in front of them, and a collision ensues. The Black Sun sends fighters after them, and Chewbacca is forced to evade fire. The Millennium Falcon ultimately crash-lands on the planet, not far from the Crimson Dawn auction.
