Laser scalpel

A laser scalpel was a laser-based surgical tool, and could be used to make highly accurate incisions. At Rimsoo units, laser scalpels were used for a variety of surgeries.

The servogrip pinchers on 2-1B surgical droids were gentle enough to manipulate a laser scalpel. IT-0 interrogation droids were equipped with laser scalpels.^[1]

Ton Phanan of Wraith Squadron carried a laser scalpel as a holdout weapon. The model he used was almost indistinguishable from a writing implement when deactivated. This made it easily missed during a weapons search, and he could use his medical credentials as justification for carrying it if discovered. Phanan used it to deadly effect against a false military police officer during a kidnapping attempt on the Wraiths in 7 ABY.^[2]

It is not clear whether or not the fine-point laser cutter was identical to the laser scalpel, or represented a distinctly different piece of equipment.
