Plot summary[]
Gambling gone wrong[]
In a secret gambling den on the planet Oosalon, an Aqualish bouncer opens the door to a mysterious figure and demands a password, but the man forces his way in and calls out the Koorivar gambler Fissark Tozan. Introducing himself as Jango Fett, the Mandalorian bounty hunter explains that he is there to collect the bounty on Tozan's head since they owe the Crymorah Syndicate a Sabacc debt. With this, Fissark and their accomplices rise from their table of drinks and cards and draw their blasters, but when they prepare to take Fett down, Jango beats them to it and shoots them dead except for Fissark, who he captures with his fibercord whip as they try to flee. With the bounty in his hands, Jango flies off with his jetpack through the glass ceiling before dropping a thermal detonator on the gambling den's remaining patrons.
Peace and thievery[]
Elsewhere, in the Regional Republic Headquarters on Jaloria, Republic Governor Tok leads negotiations for a treaty to end the war on Glee Anselm fought between its predominant species the Anselmi and Nautolans. As a show of good faith in brokering the treaty, Chancellor Valorum has authorized the Republic Museum to release one of its most valuable artifacts, the Hope of Glee Anselm. Incorporating the Anselmi's sacred firestone of King Skrawll, and the Nautolans' Leviathan Gem, the relic was sculpted from the royal jewels of both people during a time of harmony between the species. As the two sides argue over whose possession it should be in, a group of black armor-laden thieves burst in and kill the Senate Guards, intent on stealing the Hope of Glee Anselm. The heist is later covered by the HoloNet News, who reveal that while Republic forces killed most of the thieves, one managed to get away with the relic. Those who remained spontaneously combusted, concealing the identities of the thieves. The ordeal is framed as an embarrassment for Chancellor Valorum's administration. Another failure is the devolving trade negotiations between the Trade Federation and Naboo.
Meanwhile, on the Outer Rim world Halmad, Jango Fett delivers Fissark Tozan to Y3-99's Bounty Services. There Fett is informed of a new job by the droid. Y3-99 shows Fett a transmission of Governor Tok, asking to recover the Hope of Glee Anselm on behalf of the Republic. The Jedi cannot be involved because the Anselmi dislike that the Nautolan Kit Fisto is among the Jedi ranks. Jango Fett accepts the bounty, but soon finds out he is not the only bounty hunter who has been contacted about this job.
Stiff competition[]
In the Two Blasters Bar on Daiyu, three Houk brothers imbibe and boast that the bounty for the Hope of Glee Anselm is theirs alone. When another patron comments on their tracking fob, the Hauks swat his drink on the ground and exit the cantina. The man follows them into an alleyway outside and picks a fight with the much larger Hauks, where he uses his impressive close combat skills to incapacitate them and defeat them with their own electrostaffs. Before leaving with the tracking fob, he reveals his name to be Vigor Struk.
On the Expansion Region planet Megalox Beta, in Megalox Penitentiary, the prison warden and many Republic judicials stand armed and ready for a prisoner transfer. As the prisoner Aurra Sing arrives on the elevator, Judicial Huijari secretly hands the warden a bag of credits for her troubles and for purging files. Aurra Sing is thus remanded into the custody of the Judicial Forces of the Republic, and is going to track down a bounty hunter in order to commute her sentence.
At a landing platform on Halmad]], Jango Fett walks to his ship, Slave I, with Y3-99. They spot a group of black-armored individuals loitering around his ship. Jango makes short work of them, gunning them down and even doing so with a reflective disk to ricochet his shot around a corner. After dealing with the group, Jango goes back to talk to Y3-99 about the job, but finds the droid destroyed. With this, the Mandalorian bounty hunter departs the planet on his starship to start his hunt.

All I've seen it narrowed down to is 'Between 40 BBY and 32 BBY' since its Valorum's time in office, did you have anything more specific in mind?")
