Plot summary

"Reach for that blaster, lose your hand."
"If you're gonna kill me, what do I need my hand for? You…are here to kill me, right?"

―Bane Malar and Rik Duel

Rik Duel attempts to outrun bounty hunter Bane Malar before being hit by a stun blast and falling to the ground. Bane informs the bounty that he is acting on orders of Jabba the Hutt to kill him for owing eighty thousand credits. Rik attempts to reason with the hunter that he could be more use to the Crime lord alive than dead. This leads to Rik being employed by the Hutt as his top Lieutenant, running several missions for the crime syndicate to pay back the credits he owes. Rik infiltrates the prison planet Gulhadar getting in trouble with the Benelex Marshal Service, assassinates Boss Voss of the Enthian mob by causing him to accidentally choke and accidentally knocking over an imperial bank Vaultspeeder all for Jabba. Back on Tatooine, inside Jabba's Palace, Rik attempts to negotiate that all he has done for the crime lord has been enough to get a significant discount on the debt he owes. However, Jabba reiterates that his reward is not having his internal organs removed. Continuing with the debt to Jabba, Rik is taken to Bib Fortuna to discuss a new assignment. Rik is taken to meet with the other members of the group, Dani Gammill and Chihdo Jo, who Rik is familiar with, to work together on the new job.
