Darth Vader 12 is the twelfth issue of the canon comic book series Star Wars: Darth Vader. It was written by Greg Pak, illustrated by Guiu Vilanova and Dean White, and published by Marvel Comics on May 26, 2021. It features the prelude story "Into the Trap," which leads into the Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters crossover event.

PRELUDE: Into the Trap

Emperor Palpatine finally revealed to
Darth Vader a mere glimpse of his power
on Exegol.

It was enough to make Vader kneel before
his master once more.

Darth Vader is beginning to understand
the full scope and might of the Emperor's
plans for the galaxy. Now Vader's own
plans must also change….

A brief flashback panel of Han Solo being tortured at Bespin shows the Scan Grid from Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back equipped with several long sharp needles. Irvin Kershner, the director of the film, originally filmed more shots of Han being tortured,^[3] which showed the machine in operation with spikes and needles and electronic things going,^[4] and flashes of electricity everywhere.^[3] It was cut because the filmmakers were afraid that this would be too intense for children.^[3]
