- "I wished to discuss the governorship of Birren. Your staff must have been researching the matter for weeks now. When will you be traveling there for your inauguration?"
 - ―Carise Sindian, to Leia Organa

Birren was a small, quiet Inner Rim planet that was originally settled by both Alderaanian and Arkanisian explorers.[1] After the destruction of Alderaan, it was one of the few places where candlewick flowers still grew naturally.[5]
Its head of state was a ceremonial monarch referred to as the supreme governor. Birren was reputed for its rituals that invariably lasted for several weeks. When Lord Mellowyn died without an heir, the figurehead governorship of Birren should have passed to his closest living relative, Senator Leia Organa of Alderaan. However, since Organa had no interest in claiming the title, she gave the throne of Birren to Lady Carise Sindian of Arkanis. Days later, after discovering that Sindian had broken the royal seal by exposing the identity of Organa's true father, the senator managed to convince the Elder Houses to strip Sindian of all her titles.[1]
The Akuna family lived on Birren for a time during the Imperial Era.[6]

This assumes that the name "Trellen Trade Route," as used in Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon 43 Guide to the Galaxy: Kashyyyk's Fight for Freedom, applies to the canon hyperspace route depicted on the map that matches the depiction of the Star Wars Legends route with the same name in The Essential Atlas per
Jason Fry (@jasoncfry.bsky.social.) on Bluesky (post on January 3, 2025): "They are indeed the same. Same galaxy, same map. In the rare event something needs to be changed, it will be discussed. (In response to: Hi @jasoncfry.bsky.social, was hoping you could confirm for Wookieepedia purposes that the hyperspace routes depicted on the Galaxy Map given out at Celebration are intended to be the same routes as in Legends. Sorry to bother, but would make our lives much easier to have it confirmed!)" (screenshot).
