Of Blades & Tails - Not All Foxes Who Wander Are Lost
Of Blades & Tails is one of those games that had me tilting my head a little at first, trying to decide exactly where I stood with it. It's a turn-based RPG with a traditional roguelike flavour and a whole lot of fox-led wandering. Parts of it won me over fairly quickly, while other parts needed a bit of persistence before they settled into place. It's a game with genuine ambition and a clear sense of identity, even if not everything lands smoothly from the start.
[...]
My final feelings on Of Blades & Tails land somewhere between appreciation and caution. There's a genuinely enjoyable RPG here, but it asks for patience. It's not a quick pick-up-and-play sort of game, and the early hours may feel tougher than expected. But if you're in the mood for a turn-based adventure with an open world, a fox hero, and plenty of room to experiment, there's something worthwhile waiting beneath the rough edges. I liked it, even if it took some time to get there.
Starting today, from November 22nd to December 7th, you can take part in the STEAM PLAYTEST of the GLASSHOUSE PRE-ALPHA.
To celebrate this milestone, we showcased a new GLASSHOUSE trailer at the Winter OTK Games Expo Showcase, featuring gameplay from the playtest and never-before-seen sequences from ACT II.
The trailer was created in collaboration with professional voice actors Stefanie Joosten, Ryan Cooper, and Andy Mack. As an unfunded project, we can't currently offer full voice acting, but this trailer serves as a glimpse of what could be - a goal we hope to reach someday, with your support.
HOW TO JOIN THE PLAYTEST
The Playtest is open to everyone; you should already see the "Request Access" button on our Steam store page. Just click it, and GLASSHOUSE - Playtest will appear in your game library.
That's all. Just keep in mind that after December 7, it will no longer be possible to download or launch the application.
News about alchemical ingredients and new environments:
Alchemical Ingredients and New Environments
Greetings, Pathfinders!
This week we're excited to share a fresh batch of concept art including a first look at alchemical ingredient icons and a glimpse into never-before-seen environments. From experimental concoctions to towering cliffside fortresses, there's plenty to explore, so let's get into it!
Alchemical Ingredients
Work has begun on our vision for the alchemy system in which players will gather a variety of ingredients from the Vaults and its environs to craft valuable upgrades and extracts for their flasks.
Above and below are first looks at icons that represent this range of substances (plus a few bonus non-alchemy currency icons!). Can you guess what alchemical ingredients and currencies these icons might represent? Share your best guesses in the comments!
Caligni Stronghold
The Caligni Stronghold is a fortification secured by the Crimson Eye Caligni who have come to the area to worship their new oracle, with whom our heroes would very much like to have a word. However, one does not simply walk into a Caligni Stronghold...
When designing this location, it was important to create something with the opportunity for a striking vista. With that in mind, we decided to place it on a cliff with waterfalls to create a strong, cinematic moment. As always, we tried to make the most of verticality wherever possible!
For the stronghold itself, we wanted it to feel like a more recent construction-hence the choice of wooden materials. Since the Caligni are squatters, it made sense that they'd build something quickly to establish and fortify their foothold in the Darklands.
Glimm Fizzletop's Alchemitorium
Funded by a Kickstarter stretch goal, the Fizzletop Alchemitorium belongs to Glimm Fizzletop, a traveling alchemist with a curious past. Glimm recently made his way to Otari to offer his premium services while in search of rare ingredients. His wagon offers a wide range of alchemical services to the party... so long as they supply him with what he needs.
Talia's Tailoring Emporium
Talia's Tailoring Emporium is another Kickstarter-backed stretch goal service. Operated by Amelia Candlebright, an outfitter with a surprising life story and a penchant for making outfits that go well beyond the means of traditional village tailors, she is ready to offer her range of services related to the heroes' armor, outfits, and styling.
That's all for this week's progress update! Thanks as always for your continued support. To catch all the news and updates around Pathfinder: Abomination Vaults, be sure to follow us on social media and join us on Discord!
The campaign flatlined, but the project's heartbeat is steady.
The Kickstarter run didn't hit critical funding levels, but this isn't a shutdown, it's a systems reboot. What we see isn't failure, but signal: data, feedback, voices from the network.
We're dissecting the campaign, tuning into the community's feedback, and forging our next moves. Nothing's been lost - quite the opposite. The response proved there's real interest and support in the grid.
And that's enough to keep the Carbon engine running hot. We're not stepping back. We're pushing forward, rebuilding the path to bringing Carbon online.
To everyone who watched the campaign, hacked through the demo, amplified the project, or backed us in any way, huge THANK YOU! Your support means everything to us.

Unnatural mists cloak the dimly lit streets and a howl of wolves may be heard in the distance. In the nearby tavern. a group of Vampire Hunters huddle around a hearth, planning their next attack while trying to get warm. After deciding their next target, one of their company shovels a heaping spoonful of gruel into their mouth before... spitting out maggots everywhere. With a crack of thunder, the window bursts open and a lone figure in dapper garments levitates into the room. With a flick of his wrist, the fireplace flares and the hunters close to it are swallowed in flames. Realizing the maggots are no longer anywhere to be seen, the last hunter grabs a wooden stake and lunges toward the Vampire's heart, striking not solid matter, but vapor. "Could it be that easy?". thinks the hunter, "does the sacred wood bypass the ribcage?". As the thought is refuted by the sense of alarm on the hunter's face, the Dracul Nightborn has already reformed behind him and bites deeply into the jugular.
"Once again...welcome to my house. Come freely. Go safely; and leave something of the happiness you bring."
― Bram Stoker, Dracula
The Dracul Lineage is known as Leaders among Nightborn, Regal Lords ruling from a storm-shrouded mountaintop, and Enticingly Exotic Brooding types.
Draculs tend to be domineering and ambitious.
Dracul often assume leadership roles in Nightborn courts, butting heads with Orloks, that do the same.
Dracul Entitlements are Dominion, Power over Nature, and Psyche, Power over Spirit.
The Dominion tree includes defensive powers, such as hardening the body or discorporating into Mist, control over animals and the land, and Elemental Magic.
The Psyche tree includes Telekinesis, Mind Control, and Illusion Magic.
The Dracul of the New Orleans Vampire Court largely support the Nightborn Establishment faction in the Central Business District.
When you are on top, it is best to remain on top.
Their greatest competition in the city are the Orloks who are gaining influence with the Orthodoxy in The French Quarter and the Ruthvens who lead the Libertines in the Arts District.
Tension are brewing, so the Dracul have been petitioning for support from some of the uncommitted Lineages to maintain power in New Orleans.
It's time for another devlog. This time as a tie-in with AdventureX 2025 which Esoteric Ebb is taking part in! Check out the page to find a bunch of other cool narrative-driven games. And what kind of Esoteric Campaign Devlog have I written to celebrate this momentous occasion? Lore. Let's talk the worldbuilding of Esoteric Ebb.
The Esoteric Coast is a setting in which you cannot make an accurate map. Not in the typical fantasy-style you're imagining. You can absolutely map out a city. Or show which roads lead where. And the Coast itself too, in general.
But the further inland you go, the less things follow any type of physical rules.
Ebb takes place in the city of Norvik. It's the last bastion of humanity in the world, after the world-spanning 'Coast War' ended up with the destruction of ~90% of all humans. This war ended 57 years ago, and Norvik was founded just a decade or so before that. It's a young city, in an ancient world.
The releases from the past few days are probably the peak of November, with plenty of interesting RPGs and strategy titles now available, meaning lots of new things to consider for my faithful and timely recap.
Today's lineup has a bit of everything, including a few entries that stretch the boundaries of turn-based, even if only slightly. Among these releases, three titles definitely stand out for me, but I won't say which ones here in the intro.
With that said, here's the best new stuff you can dive into this weekend, which, for me, is a rainy one, perfect for some gaming.
