Thermodynamic versus kinetic reaction control

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Energy profile diagram for two reactions with the same reagents. The product of the left blue reaction is the kinetic product because the activation energy is lower. The product of the right red reaction is the thermodynamic product because the energy of the products is lower.

In chemistry, the thermodynamic and kinetic products are two different possible results from when the same ingredients go through different possible chemical reactions. The kinetic product comes from the reaction that happens the fastest, while the thermodynamic product comes from the reaction with the most stable product.
