Lay Zhang slammed for missing EXO fan meeting

16 Dec - Lay Zhang has recently apologised for his absence from the EXO fan meeting, only to further fuel fans' anger.

The whole issue started after SM Entertainment released a statement just a few hours before the EXO'verse event on 14 December, saying that Lay (aka Zhang Yixing) would not be able to attend the event, which will also be attended by Suho, Chanyeol, Do, Kai and Sehun.

The announcement causes some fans to worry about Lay, while others became enraged that the announcement came only hours before the event.

Lay himself posted his apology on Weibo soon after, writing, "I rushed back to Beijing this morning to attend an important event at the National Theatre of China."

"I have now arrived in Beijing safely, so please don't worry. Here, I would like to express my deepest apologies to my fans, teammates, company and everyone affected by my absence," he added.

And while some fans were more apologetic, others were unhappy that his excuse was so that he can attend a different event, slamming Lay for not giving them earlier notice and treating EXO like a joke.
