Google Search Console Index Coverage report delayed
This is just a reporting issue and indexing is working as expected.
Google confirmed that the Search Console index coverage and page indexing reports are running about two weeks behind.
- Google is working on a fix.
- The delay only affects reporting.
- Crawling, indexing, and ranking remain unaffected.
Page indexing report. It shows which pages Google can find and index on your site, along with any problems. You can also submit fixes there and see whether Google confirms they worked. But with the report now delayed by two weeks, you won’t know if your fix worked until the data updates.
What it looks like. Here is a screenshot of one of my reports showing it was last updated on Nov. 17 (note: some are seeing Nov. 18 as the “last updated” date):

What Google said. Google confirmed the issue and posted on LinkedIn:
- “FYI – Page indexing report delays We’re currently experiencing longer than usual delays in the Search Console Index Coverage report. This only affects reporting, not crawling, indexing, or ranking of websites. We’ll update here once this issue is resolved. Thanks for your patience!”
Why we care. It’s the start of the month, and many of you are preparing client reports. I expect the data will catch up soon, but for now, if your reports rely on the page indexing report, you’ll need to delay sharing them with clients and stakeholders. In the meantime, remember this is only a reporting glitch.
Postscript: December 12th and still big delays and Google does not have an update:
