Guided by his Christian faith, Scott has dedicated his life to serving his neighbors and keeping them safe from violent criminals. Now he’s running to lower costs for families, save our Mississippi hospitals, and bring good jobs home. Scott loves his state and will always put Mississippi first – and he’ll work with anyone, Republican or Democrat, to get things done for us.
Scott Colom is a proud seventh-generation Mississippian who’s been a prosecutor, a judge, a widely-praised District Attorney, and now a candidate for the U.S. Senate.
Born and raised in Columbus, Mississippi, Scott and his wife Nadia are proud parents of two (eighth-generation Mississippian) daughters. He’s the son of retired Judge Dorothy Colom – the first African-American to be elected to her region’s Chancery Court – and Wilbur Colom, an attorney and one-time Republican who worked for Ronald Reagan.
Scott is a lifelong member of Missionary Union Baptist Church in Columbus. In his spare time, Scott coaches sports and a high school mock trial team.
Guided by his Christian faith and his love of Mississippi, Scott Colom announced his campaign for the U.S. Senate in September of 2025. He’s running to lower costs for families, save our Mississippi hospitals, and bring good jobs home. Our current U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith isn’t working for us anymore, voting against Mississippi jobs and investments because it serves her donors’ agenda. Scott will always put Mississippi first – and he’ll work with anyone, Republican or Democrat, to get things done for our state.
As District Attorney, Scott Colom has surged resources to prosecute violent crimes, closed a record number of cold cases, and won 94% of his trials.
Scott Colom was elected District Attorney in 2015 when, at the age of just 32, he unseated a 27-year incumbent while running on a reform platform that called for prioritizing resources to hold violent criminals accountable.
Among Scott’s successes keeping our communities safe:
Scott has emphasized the importance of preventing crime by making sure criminals know they will be held accountable – and also pushing for more jobs and opportunities, which he knows is the best way to prevent crime.
Northeastern Mississippi has embraced Scott’s approach. Since first winning election to his swing district in 2015, Scott has been re-elected twice with support from Republicans, Independents and Democrats, most recently with a winning margin that exceeded national Democrats by 10 percentage points.
