Anna Danby
Publishing Director
Anna joined Scala in January 2024 after leading the publishing programme at Black Dog Press, Artifice Press and St James’s House. With a background in book design, Anna has worked in illustrated non-fiction publishing for 18 years with a focus on the arts, architecture and heritage sectors

Jennifer Norman
Director of Publications
Jennifer has worked in international art book publishing for over 25 years. She began her career working in sales and marketing for Abrams, Flammarion and Merrell. She has been commissioning art and illustrated books worldwide for Scala as the Director of Publications since 2000. She has been the head of the US office and all US operations since opening the New York office at the beginning of 2003.

Oliver Craske
Editorial Director
Oliver has almost 30 years' experience in publishing, specialising in editing illustrated books on music, art, photography, heritage or sport. He was Managing Editor at Genesis Publications, before becoming Editorial Director of Scala from 2004 to 2016, and in 2024 he resumed the role at Scala, where he oversees the editorial team. He also writes about music and arts, and is the author of Indian Sun: The Life and Music of Ravi Shankar.

Claire Young
Managing Editor
Claire has 20 years experience in museum publishing, working at Tate Liverpool as Design and Print Officer (2000–5), and as Project Editor at the National Gallery, London (2005–18). She oversees the production of exhibition catalogues, trade books and guides, as well as academic periodicals.

Beth Holmes
Senior Editor
Beth joined Scala in 2021 and has previously worked for the British Museum’s Publishing department, RA Magazine and Yale University Press. She has edited numerous illustrated non-fiction publications and has also written about arts and culture for several organisations.

Tally de Orellana
Editorial Assistant
Tally has worked in the US and Europe as a contemporary arts curator for almost 8 years. She joined Scala in October 2023 after working in the curatorial teams of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museums in New York, Bilbao, and Venice. She often writes about literature and contemporary art and collaborates with artists across continents in independent exhibition projects.

Sophie Jones
Publishing & Sales Assistant
Sophie started at Scala in October 2024, after previously working at Jarndyce Antiquarian Booksellers in Bloomsbury. She studied History at undergraduate level before undertaking an MA in the History of the Book where she specialised in the Puffin cut-out books.
