Taylor River Lodge near Almont, Colorado, offers both the rustic charm of Rocky Mountain ranch living combined with the creature comforts of a boutique hotel.
Sitting on about eight acres in Gunnison County, about 170 miles southwest of Denver and not too far from Crested Butte, the impressive spread encompasses 15 different buildings. Back in the 1960s, the property was home to a general store and a fishing camp, but it’s since been reimagined by Eleven Experience as a high-end hideaway. All of the structures showcase reclaimed materials and vintage pieces, with items like antler mirrors and bearskin rugs being nods to the Wild West setting. The $22.4 million compound, offered turnkey with all its furnishings and decor, can be kept as a money-making hospitality venue, converted to a corporate retreat, or used as a private family compound.
There are two main residences—dubbed Green Drake and Royal Wulff—each with two king suites, a bunk room, and comfortably appointed spaces for gathering, and there are six guest cabins; altogether, the sleeping quarters total 12 bedrooms that accommodate 24 people.
Taylor River Lodge’s eight acres provide plenty of space for an immersive experience in nature, while the central building is where large groups can cozy up around the grand stone hearth or have a cocktail at the horseshoe bar. Bookworms can enjoy one of the many reading nooks, and everyone can gather for breakfast or dinner in the communal dining room.
If you’re looking to add in a bit more activity, there’s a fitness center outfitted with a Peloton bike and a Pilates reformer, plus an archery and hatchet-throwing range and a custom-built climbing wall. And for those seeking a more relaxing experience, they will do well to head to the bathhouse, hidden among the trees and complete with an indoor saltwater plunge pool, a dry sauna and a steam room, massage rooms, and a riverside hot tub.
The listing, held by Ken and Haley Mirr at the Mirr Ranch Group, is just one of many Colorado ranches that have popped up for sale this year: A nearly 10,000-acre working ranch near Steamboat Springs hit the market for an eye-popping $65 million, while Discovery Channel founder John Hendricks put a $45 million price tag on his 1,000-acre West Creek Ranch.
