Masterclass | Evaluating with Impact: How to Demonstrate Effects

Masterclass Description: How do you know whether a project or policy has been effective; i.e. whether it has yielded the desired results? A policy evaluation or impact measurement is more than a purely analytical exercise, it is essential for informing stakeholders, making evidence-based decisions and steering towards more impact.

Conducting and managing evaluations requires tailor-made approaches: the evaluation design is different for every case. In this masterclass, our experienced evaluators will provide you with a four-step approach to set up this design, and choose between different types of evaluation methodologies, from quantitative to qualitative, that are suitable to measure complex behaviour change. They will provide real-life examples to illustrate how these steps work in practice, so you can directly apply them to your own project or case.

By the end of this masterclass, you will

  • Have clarity of the purpose of evaluations
  • Recognise the international standards and evaluation criteria
  • Be familiar with types of evaluative measurements (ex ante / ex durante / ex post)
  • Know how to choose from a range of complexity aware methodological options
