The American Heart Association (AHA) defines older patients as those aged 75 years or older. Despite acknowledging that most older adults have higher risk for cardiovascular disease, many guidelines have only limited recommendations specifically for this group, if at all. Older adults are a unique population of patients that might present with age-related comorbidities and have different clinical expectations compared with younger patients.
