Another weekend specialty show targeted at Talk stations will be ending production in early 2026.
“Animal Radio” hosted by Hal Abrams will air its final episode on Saturday, January 17 with a best-of show. Animal Radio debuted in 2001 and aired 1263 weekly editions airing mostly on Talk stations and SiriusXM during its run. Abrams previously served as morning show producer for stations including KPWR Los Angeles and KYLD San Francisco and spent much of the 1990s hosting mornings across the country including WUMX Charlottesville VA, KMXS Anchorage AK, KBOS Fresno, KHTY Santa Barbara, KCAQ Oxnard, and KOME San Jose. Abrams also was the founder and is Operations Manager of “97.3/107.9 The Rock” KEBF-LP Morro Bay/KZSR-LP Paso Robles CA.
Abrams stated, “It’s been an incredible journey. I have met so many wonderful people while talking about my passion for animals. Plus, I could bring my pets to work. Nobody could ask for a better job. Thank you for your support and airplay. We’ve really enjoyed going to work for the last 25 years. It’s been a passion for the entire team. Without you, it just wouldn’t have been possible.”
The final episode will feature segments including past appearances from Ed Asner, Paul Reiser, Dick Van Patter, Donny Osmond, Davy Jones and dog wig maker Ruth Regina.
