Ambassador Azeema presented her credentials to the president at a ceremony held at the Great Hall of the People on Wednesday.
China’s Foreign Minister and State Councilor Wang Yi attended the ceremony, along with its Chief of Protocol Hong Leo and Chief of Asia Department Wu Jianghao.
Second and third secretaries at the Maldives embassy in Beijing, Fathimath Liusha and Hussain Abdul Latheef, had also attended the ceremony.
While President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had nominated Azeema for the post, she was approved by the People’s Majlis in February.
