Notes

The published data refer to the selected set of indicators that was prepared in line with the international recommendations of a special group of statisticians operating under the auspices of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), which prepared 44 climate change-related indicators. The indicators focus on environmental, social and economic areas and are grouped into five areas related to climate change for ease of review and interpretation:
- drivers: indicators show human causes of climate change that deal with sources of emissions;
- emissions: indicators show greenhouse gas emissions and their human causes;
- impacts: indicators show impacts of climate change on human and natural systems;
- mitigation: indicators show people's efforts to mitigate the consequences of climate change;
- adaptations: indicators show adaptation of people to the consequences of climate change. The Statistical Office prepared an experimental set of 21 indicators for Slovenia based on the current availability of data, the development of the indicator and its methodological framework.

Share of energy from renewable sources in gross final energy consumption (%)

The indicator represents the share of gross final energy consumption that is derived from renewable energy sources. It is expressed in percent (%).

Share of energy and transport related taxes in total taxes and social contributions (%)

The indicator represents energy and transport taxes revenue as a percentage of revenues from total taxes and social contributions. It is expressed in percent (%).

Total climate change-related subsidies and similar transfers in relation to GDP (%)

The indicator is defined as the amount of current or capital transfers intended to support activities having as main purpose the reduction of GHG emissions. Tax abatements and other environmental support measures are excluded. Flows from general government to the other sectors, plus transfers from (and to) the rest of the world are included. Transfers from other sectors to the general government (fines, donations and legacies, etc.) are excluded. The indicator is expressed as a share of GDP. It is expressed in percent (%).

Net emissions/removal of carbon dioxide by forest land from national territory (kt CO2 eq)

The indicator measures the difference between CO2 emitted by forest land and CO2 removed by forest land. A negative value indicates removal of CO2 from the atmosphere, a positive value indicates emissions to the atmosphere. It is expressed in kilotonnes of CO2 equivalent (kt CO2 eq).
