Now you have come to the page, Choose variable. This page give you the oportunity to select which variables and values you want to display in your result of the table. A variable is a property of a statistical unit. The page is divided into several boxes, one for each variable, where you can select values by click to highlight one or more values. It always starts with the statistics variable which is the main value counted in the table.

INDICATOR

Circular material use rate (%)

The indicator measures the share of material recovered and fed back into the economy - thus saving extraction of primary raw materials - in overall material use. The circular material use rate is defined as the ratio of the circular use of materials to the overall material use. The overall material use is measured by summing up the aggregate domestic material consumption and the circular use of materials. Domestic material consumption is defined in economy-wide material flow accounts. The circular use of materials is approximated by the amount of waste recycled in domestic recovery plants, minus imported waste destined for recovery, plus exported waste destined for recovery abroad. Waste recycled in domestic recovery plants comprises the recovery operations R2 to R11. A higher circular material use rate value means that more secondary materials substitute for primary raw materials thus reducing the environmental impacts of extracting primary material. It is expressed in percent.

Imports from non-EU countries (tonnes)

The indicator measures the quantities of selected waste categories and by-products imported by EU Member States from third countries. The scope of the “recyclable raw materials” is measured in terms of relevant product codes from the Combined Nomenclature used in International Trade in Goods Statistics. According to the national concept, only exporters/importers with an SI tax number are covered. The indicator is expressed in tonnes.

Exports to non-EU countries (tonnes)

The indicator measures the quantities of selected waste categories and by-products exported by EU Member States to third countries. The scope of the “recyclable raw materials” is measured in terms of relevant product codes from the Combined Nomenclature used in International Trade in Goods Statistics. According to the national concept, only exporters/importers with an SI tax number are covered. The indicator is expressed in tonnes.

Imports from EU countries (tonnes)

The indicator measures the quantities of selected waste categories and by-products imported by EU Member States from another Member State. The scope of the “recyclable raw materials” is measured in terms of relevant product codes from the Combined Nomenclature used in International Trade in Goods Statistics. According to the national concept, only exporters/importers with an SI tax number are covered. The indicator is expressed in tonnes.
