Release 0.25.1. A fix for the reading statistics screens, which are part of Flipa Pro and are not in the plugin published here, so nothing on this listing changes behaviour. Recording it in the commit log anyway because the free and paid builds are cut from one tree and the version has to move together: the charts on those screens stretched downward without stopping and flickered while they did it. Each chart was sized from the box around it while the box was sized from the chart, so the two grew each other on every repaint. The charts now sit in a box with a height of its own. The figures and tables were correct throughout and nothing needs recounting. Reported by a publisher the day after 0.25.0 with screenshots, and fixed the same day. Earlier release notes are kept at https://flipa.pro/changelog/ rather than in the readme, which has to stay inside the length WordPress.org truncates at.
Release 0.25.0. The plugin interface is now fully translated in all 19 bundled languages. Until now the settings screens were only partly translated and the rest fell back to English, which was most noticeable in German, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, Polish, Swedish, Turkish, Ukrainian, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese and Chinese, where roughly two fifths of the interface was still English. Arabic, Hebrew and Persian are complete as well, written right to left. Nothing changes in how the plugin works and nothing changes in the reader itself; this is the admin interface reading in your own language instead of switching to English halfway down a settings page. The rest of this release is in Flipa Pro, which is not part of the plugin published here: the reading statistics screen gained an overview across all of your flipbooks, with a chart of reading sessions over time and a comparison against the previous period. Earlier release notes are kept at https://flipa.pro/changelog/ rather than in this file, which has to stay inside the length WordPress.org truncates at.
Release 0.24.1. Housekeeping for the free plugin, and a fix that applies to Pro only. The free plugin is unchanged in how it works. This release brings its version into line with the paid builds and shortens the changelog in readme.txt, which had grown close to the length WordPress.org truncates at; earlier release notes are now kept at https://flipa.pro/changelog/ instead. The fix itself is in the Pro reading statistics feature, which is not part of the free plugin at all: switching statistics off for a single flipbook now stops counting for every visitor straight away, including anyone whose copy of the page had already been cached by a caching plugin or a CDN. Previously, turning a book off stopped new visitors being given anywhere to report to, but a visitor holding a page saved earlier could keep reporting until that copy expired, while the report screen said counting had stopped. The site-wide switch was never affected, and nothing that identifies a visitor was ever stored either way.
Release 0.24.0. Two fixes and a security update for everyone, plus a new Pro feature. Fixed: when a browser blocks page rendering, the message explaining why no longer has the whole reader toolbar sitting live underneath it, with a page counter reading 1 of 0 next to working zoom, spread and thumbnail buttons. Only browsers with anti-fingerprinting protection switched on ever saw this, and the explanation itself was always correct. Fixed: the option for keeping the page number out of the address bar also, invisibly, stopped the reader telling the page it is embedded in which page the visitor was on. The two settings are unrelated, and anything listening for that message, including any analytics you wired up yourself, went quiet with nothing to explain why. The option now does only what it says. Security: the Freemius component that handles licensing and the account screens is updated to its 2.13.5 release, which its makers describe as security hardening, with stricter handling of what goes in and out of the admin notices and the opt-in screen. Nothing changes in how Flipa works, and this reaches the free plugin as well as Pro because the same component is in both. New in Pro: reading statistics, which count how many people actually read each flipbook and keep every number on your own site. Nothing is sent to us and nothing that identifies a visitor is stored anywhere: no cookie, no identifier, no IP address. A reading session is counted when someone opens a flipbook, turns at least one page and stays longer than five seconds, so a visitor who loads the page and never opens the book is not counted, search engine crawlers are not counted because they do not turn pages, and neither are you and your editors while signed in. Counting can be switched off for the whole site, or for one flipbook at a time.
Release 0.23.0. Flipbooks now have a cover picture, and it is taken from the first page of the PDF for you. Open a flipbook for editing and the cover appears by itself; you can replace it with any image from your Media Library, or clear it and have the first page drawn again. The picture is drawn once and kept in the Media Library, so a page showing several books stays as fast as any other page of images. This also fixes something that had never worked: a shelf of books looked for a cover picture on each flipbook, and nothing in the plugin had ever been able to put one there, so every shelf showed plain tiles with the titles on them while the documentation told readers to click a cover. The same was true of a flipbook opened as a popup from a link. Both show the cover now. A tile also no longer crops a cover that is not roughly its own shape: a landscape PDF, a wall calendar, or a picture you chose yourself used to lose up to half its width off the sides, and the whole picture is now shown against the tile's own background. Portrait books look exactly as they did. The new controls in the editor are translated in all nineteen bundled languages, including Hebrew, Arabic and Persian. Reported by a reader who had built a shelf of four magazines and reasonably expected the feature we had described. If you already have a shelf, open each flipbook once and press Update, and the covers will fill in.
