I believe this should now, finally be fixed! I give at least 99% of the credit to @taavi. Thanks so much! :)

Adding Wikimedia-Hackathon-2025 and am committed to bringing this bot back to life then, if not sooner! :)

Maybe it could be modified to check for the Index namespace as well. Probably best not to worry about the Page namespace since 1 djvu file might be included in hundreds of Pages. The bot would also need to be configured to post to the Index_talk namespace.

In it's current form it doesn't look like the bot would work as it is hardcoded to only work on files used in the main namespace of a project: https://github.com/wikimedia/CommonsNotifier/blob/5dfcfc5ba1564f20fc4801db28b13d2eb97fc286/post-notifs.py#L155

Noting that I did get around to revisiting this today, and made some decent progress. What's left is basically to split up the bash scripts to run on images that support the commands the script uses. To that end, I'm confused why the mariadb image is no more on Toolforge? I was planning on using it…

The community did not reach a consensus on which language variant to choose. I would suggest that reopen the discussion and see if the community can reach a consensus. Thanks.
So...what is the current situation?

I was concerned that simply no one cared about this bot anymore, but I just uncovered https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Requests_for_comment/Technical_needs_survey/Bots

Probably should make time for this soon, given how long the outage has been. I'm going to try to look into this week as a broadly related MediaWiki CodeJam Dec 2023 project.
Noting we also need to adjust the various bash scripts to work with k8s instead of the grid, as they are currently written.
The bot has been down since June (T339145), so we might as well resolve this.
