I will try to summarize my understanding of what happened within the boundaries of this ticket so far, because we had some learnings, and our understanding of what's possible and necessary evolved since we opened this ticket. We can the gracefully close it and create new tickets for investigations that are still relevant.

Updated bits were deployed and are now running. I re-ran a few recent hours through and we get the following counts, not sure if these are expected. Essentially it sees a bit under 1k/hr in the couple hours i re-ran.

working on a remote dev env doesn't make much more sense anymore:
- Local seems to be stable, less complaints now
- a lot of cloud resources dedicate for dev env for 6 engineers (at lease 8cpus and 16-32GB ram for each)
- No significant advantage
