I can no longer reproduce this issue either. I'm on the same PC I originally experienced the issue on, using the same browser (Firefox), attempting to upload the exact same file (SVG Logo.svg), using Special:Upload on the exact same wikis (which are all on various versions of MediaWiki, and some on the same version) — but it seems to work fine now.

I've removed the "Upstream" tag. While @AntiCompositeNumber did raise the issue upstream, it was closed immediately (as effectively WONTFIX), with the advice to simply use -background None alongside -extent in order to preserve transparency.

The -extent in the title of this ticket seems to be making assumptions about the technical implementation (which I'm not familiar with), but I believe this is the same issue.

Even with MobileFrontend and Minerva, DiscussionTools does render an image. But the image is set to display: none at widths below 720px.

This task still says "Mobile.css will be removed by the end of 2024 (timeline to be updated later)" at the very top of the description. Since this task is still open, I'm assuming this has not happened yet. Is there a new time window that this can be expected to occur?

This was resolved by https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T308160. It is now possible to use -webkit-filter (although the unprefixed filter should be preferred anyway).

Note that this issue is not exclusive to mode=packed — it affects all gallery modes. The following are examples of the different gallery modes from Help:Gallery tag, all displaying this same issue.

I believe this is the same issue as T308160

I would like to echo this concern. The fact that the edits are completely hidden from logging even when viewing bot edits makes me extremely concerned about the traceability of edits made this way.
